My #fiance and I visited #Cafe called House on the beach. "Villa Wegelius was completed in 1918 as the main building of the Wegelius family farm." #finland#suomimastodon
Villa Wegelius valmistui vuonna 1918 Wegeliuksen suvun maatilan päärakennukseksi.
Biden pulls back on tightened car and truck fuel standards
"Under the rule, formally known as the Corporate Average #FuelEconomy standards, all light-duty vehicles overall must meet an average of 50.4 mpg in 2031, down from 55.7 mpg in last year’s proposal. The current average is 39.1 mpg.
For SUVs and pickups, the requirement will be 45 mpg. That’s up from the 35.2 mpg they average now, but it’s less than the 52.2 mpg that the agency had proposed last year."
"NHTSA’s final [#FuelEfficiency] rule maintains the proposal’s requirement that passenger cars make 2 percent annual improvements for model years 2027 through 2031."
For light trucks including SUVs, the original rule called for 4% improvement every year.
Now that's no improvement required until 2028 and 2% a year after that.
For heavy pickup trucks: 10% a year improvement, now 10% a year through 2032, then 8% through 2035.
And now, Governor Youngkin has unilaterally pulled Virginia out of the CARB vehicle emissions rules.
"The EPA gives states a choice to follow either federal standards or California standards -- but given that Virginia signed California emissions standards into its own law in 2021, some are calling the legality of the move into question."
I'm so dismayed with the state of coffee at McDonald's I'm tempted to sign back up to Twitter just to holler at them. Maybe theyve jumped to threads?
Just got parked because they can't figure out a medium Americano with 2 shots instead of one. One being a bit of a travesty to begin with.
The last one I ordered seemed to have the espresso, cream, and sweetner put in then the water added and was not stired. Dirty water for 80% of the cup. The last 20% was quite nice
I started ordering Americans because the drip coffee is always served over charcoal. This isn't specific to the one I go to most often. If it's past 8am just expect water strained through bbq ash. Everything else in that store, I used to work for McDonald's, is on a timer. How is it that coffee gets no such treatment? :AngeryCat:
#bonjour#cafe
What is a good espresso machine to buy in Germany? Something that will last for a long time, doesn't cost arm & leg and doesn't take a huge space on the countertop. What brands are reliable and make good coffee?
No capsule machines nor full-automatic ones.
#bonjour#cafe
When I took this photo back in 2016, it was a combination coffee/Chinese food restaurant: they sold coffee in the mornings and Chinese food for lunch and dinner. The owner had previously run a separate coffee shop (The Bean Counter, IIRC) in the same shopping center, then combined the two businesses to save on rent. It was one of our go-to Chinese takeout sources, and I’d sometimes grab coffee in the mornings if I was in the area or on my way somewhere in that direction.
The old coffee location sat vacant for a few years until a bakery (with coffee on the side) moved in. Amusingly, the bakery — with is still there today — also chose a pun-based name: Redondough (as in Redondo Beach).
In early 2020 — and I mean early, either January or February — they were offered a really nice buyout price by someone who wanted to turn-key convert it overnight to a Hawaiian restaurant. I imagine when mid-March rolled around and the initial Covid lockdown started, they were extremely relieved to have accepted it!
I never did get around to trying the Hawaiian place, even for takeout. Eventually it was taken over by a Hawaiian-style fast food chain.
Photo taken February 27, 2016 and originally posted on my Instagram account a few days later with this title, but no commentary.
Pfff cette semaine me paraît interminable.
I have broken two French presses this year after owning both for over a decade. Glass is just borrowed.
That means I'm down to making #coffee in the džezva today. I still have a moka pot but this reminds me of my time in Croatia. It's a slower, more thoughtful brew.
Might help me cut down my caffeine consumption before the big tournament in August, too. I learned at the last tournament that I won't be able to have coffee mid-day so I need to be prepared for that.
