@grimmy Pidgin stuff I put into reserves so as not to overload with similar things... Mario mushroom container!? I never even saw it! Someone must have got it right away.
@rasterweb ah cool glad you did that because yeah I dropped a bunch of stuff in there. I can drop another Mario mushroom container tomorrow or something.. I printed like 30 of them, all different colors and stuff
@grimmy Feel free to drop a box on the front porch with all the extras then I can put them out as needed and we don't have to overwhelm the gallery. :)
@rasterweb Cool I'll run some over at some point this weekend. I hadn't even decided what I was going to do with them yet, just that they looked cool 😄
Also after tomorrow I'll be able do 8 color prints, or 12 if I move the AMS from my second printer to m first printer, so I you have anything crazy you want printed, let me know 😂
@grimmy@rasterweb I printed a Pastamatic spooler to refill spools. Other brands are more reasonable but I’ve noticed the generic filament profiles are slower than Bambi brand filament profiles. YMMV.
(Also I recommend printing the Pastamatic in PETG. I started with PLA and reprinted all the gears and axles in PETG, then epoxied the PLA frame together.)
@mathiasx@rasterweb I've just been using bambu filament and their spools are usable, but the colors I need to refill haven't been in stock so I'm gaining a surplus of empty reusable spools :-)
@rasterweb@mathiasx yeah the recyclability is nice but reusing is better... With the bambu refills you reuse the plastic sides of the spool and the center is cardboard. here's what a bambu refill looks like and the plastic spool separated to accept a new refill. No respooling or anything, takes less than a minute to do.
@rasterweb@mathiasx 🤷 I pay a tad over $20, get free shipping and selecting filaments is one click in my slicer, but that's because I'm using an AMS. I'm also able to have the filament automatically move to another spool when one runs out.
@grimmy@mathiasx Not bad! The one feature of the AMS I would love is having four spools of black loaded up at once. I read about a lot of issues people seem to have with the AMS though.
@rasterweb@mathiasx what kind of issues? My experience so far has been great. I've had a few minor issues, like filament just wasn't extruding twice, but that was one particular filament and restarting the printer was fine.
@grimmy@mathiasx Well, to be fair it's mostly in the Facebook (ugh) groups, but I read a lot about AMS issue, like the 3rd bay doesn't work right for lots of people, or there are other issues seemingly all the time.
Grain of salt and all that since it's a lot of n00bs to 3D printing who seem to own Bambu Lab printers.
The AMS does seem pretty wasteful when doing tall/complex multicolor prints though.
@rasterweb@mathiasx I've haven't had any issues with 3rd slot. I once had an issue where the forth slot wouldn't identify, but i reloaded it and it was fine.
As for the wastefulness, there's always ways to combat that, but if you take the naive approach sure there can be a ton of waste.
You can go through and figure out the minimal amount of priming for each filament change, but that in it's very nature is wasteful too.
