Stoat,

Siobhain McDonagh, Labour, on Politics Live last year. She confirms Labour have been told to vote Tory over the SNP or they're out. Labour have made deals around Scotland with the Tories to take over various councils. She also confirms this is Starmer's doing.

Thanks to Alex Nunn for the video.

LizEllisPhD,

@Stoat I'd forgotten about this.

Is anyone going to vote for Starmer? I don't think it's just media bias here, he is publicly and literally going out of his way to out-tory the tories? Why vote for a cos-player when you can have the real deal?

Stoat,

@LizEllisPhD

Exactly. There's so little difference now you couldn't fit a sheet of paper between them.

@LizEllisPhD @Stoat Starmer is relying on inertia to win an election.
Most people vote by colour, not by policy so #SirKidStarver is hoping on that, rather than convincing anybody he's the right person to vote for.
It's all very cynical and undemocratic.

@harriettmb @Stoat They'd call it "unity" and say "it had to be done" and just like the ConDemNation their only function will be as human shields for the worst Tory policy.

    @hollybrigstocke @Stoat Starmer, not even a Socialist, there's not a Socialist in the shadow cabinet.

    hollybrigstocke,

    @Roadwarrior29 @Stoat

    I don't self identify as a socialist and am ten steps to the left of Starmer and his shadow cabinet. None of them seem to have a clue about governance or public policy or people. No insight, no balance,
    no hope, no ambition, no give and take, no empathy. I know parliament is a thin pool but even so.

    How did Starmer get to be 60 and know fuck all about life?

    I do agree. Plenty of people have seen though him like he's a pane of glass. He may surprise but I don't see any sign of that in his life history.

    skinwalkerpenelope,

    @hollybrigstocke @Stoat Keir Starmer is a weak person wouldn't send people to jail as I've said before, but I also think him and the Tories had this all planned out

    But I'd watch what gets said about the SNP or Nicola Sturgeon as she was actively encouraging hatred towards people from England, as I've had to step in when fights were going on in Glasgow as the SNP fans were jyst beating English people up, and now look at Nicola Sturgeon being looked at for fraud by the police

    @hollybrigstocke @Stoat Why should "mainstream" politics not address Indy and nuclear? Are Indy and nuclear not mainstream topics.

    hollybrigstocke,

    @Roadwarrior29 @Stoat

    Hot button issues. They need a top level constitutional and strategic review. Better to set them aside for the purposes of immediate discussion than create a massive distraction and kick off flame wars... as you appear to be doing.

    Both nuclear and independence are big topics. I personally don't go along with them and believe a strategic review is needed with proper in-depth independent analysis. Basically, a discussion document which covers everything if for no other reason I dislike political positions on the nod (and policy on the hoof).

    I'm pro self-id and the consultations were a pain but the process and outcome was sound. Same thing.

    Yes, really. Analysis versus political pitch. It's like the difference between knowing what the land is versus deciding what direction to go. I do know when I'm being manipulated into a box!

    An analysis would look at the global high level context on down. National, regional, global. Economics. Society. History. Legal. Future projections. Pluses and minuses and wiggle room. When you've done that you decide your political position not write the report to fit.

    I've got nothing against older more experienced voices giving advice. Like, I know tech stuff most have forgotten or still don't get. But I also know what I don't know (which is a lot).

    I get the sense both Labour's Blairite wing (and the Tories) are stuck in 1997. They're not up to addressing any one of a long list of long outstanding issues, or changing direction. And both Starmer and Sunak know fuck all about politics. Both are fast trackers chancing it.

    Yeah... What you said.
