Until recently, #Dresden had the CarGoTram (ironically: it carried auto parts to factories, and was discontinued after a crash with a...car).

One of the oldest systems was found in the city of Kharkiv, #Ukraine. Starting in 1932 they used miniature electric locomotives to move mainline freight wagons through the streets.

@straphanger Sadly I've never seen or heard of one in Germany, but #DHL did buy their own #ElectricVehicle manufacturer to build them some 3,5t MGW #boxtrucks for #parcels and in big cities like #Cologne, postal delivery personnel often use tram & metro networks like regular passengers with their delivery bikes...

Also both DHL and #UPS did spend quite a lot for #EV conversions of their existing #DeliveryTrucks and I've seen the latter ones in Cities in Germany.

@tropenfisch @straphanger mot of the "Tram & Metro -Network" between Cologne & Bonn, NRW, Germany is owned by the local "Harbor and Freight Transport Company" known as #HGK and they use it for freight and passenger trains...

Tho this is rather exception than norm...
