Have I lost my mind? Maybe. metalhead.club will probably be the first Fediverse instance to place advertising in "real life"! I'm super excited about this experiment 🤘

Das ist jetzt eine ernst gemeinte Frage, also bitte keinen Hass in diesem Thread ;)

Aber mich würde wirklich interessieren, wieso Leute SUVs kaufen. Ich kann absolut verstehen, wieso man sich das als Fahrzeug fürs Gelände kauft. In Forstwirtschaft. Als Landwirt. Von mir aus im Landschaftsbau. Alles kein Thema.

Aber wieso kauft man sich das als Normalo? Ich sehe da nichts als Nachteile. Egal ob beim Parken, beim Spritverbrauch, bei der Steuer...

Ist es nur Status? Höher Sitzen? Klärt mich auf.

Im (Bio-) Hotel ist mir am Wochenende aufgefallen, dass die WLAN Accesspoints im Flur kleine Geräte aufgeklebt hatten.

Bei näherer Recherche hat sich herausgestellt, dass es sich um Hokuspokus handelt, der den angeblich schädlichen Anteil der Funkwellen aus den WLAN Signalen eliminiert (nach dem Gegenschallprinzip / Wellenauslöschung) und so eine Verklumpung der Blutkörperchen verhindert 🫠🙃

Danke auch für das Granderwasser. Habe mich gleich viel besser gefühlt xD

Leute, Leute,... Lasst doch die ARD erst mal im Fediverse ankommen 😩

Die haben sich bisher noch nicht einmal vorstellen können, bevor gestänkert wird. Wollen wir sie wirklich so empfangen? Wir sollten froh sein, dass sie das Experiment überhaupt wagen.

Stattdessen wird schon wieder gemault, weil sie auf die Google Cloud zurückgreifen. Aus meiner Sicht nicht schön, aber nachvollziehbar. Weil sie dafür schon Verträge haben. Weil sie das schon nutzen und sich damit auskennen.

Gibt's hier Empfehlungen für aktive Luftentfeuchter? Ich muss im Winter meine Kleidung im Wohnraum zum Trocknen aufhängen, weil es sonst keine Räumlichkeiten dazu gibt.

Wie ihr euch vorstellen könnt, ist es schwer, Schimmel zu vermeiden, selbst wenn man regelmäßig lüftet.

Ginge so um ca 20 m^2. Das Ding sollte auch wohnraumgeeignet sein. Also nicht zu laut bzw Nachtmodus und ansehnlich. Außerdem wäre eine hohe Energieeffizienz toll.

Hat jemand einen heißen Tipp? 😉

Will es mal mit Disney+ versuchen. Zahlen kann ich mit Kreditkarte, Lastschrift via Klarna und PayPal. Aus verschiedenen Gründen bleibt bei mir nur Lastschrift via Klarna.

So. Jetzt will aber Klarna von mir 1) einen Account (ja gut) und
2) Meine Onlinebanking-Zugangsdaten zu meiner Bank.

Die haben doch den Ar*** offen?! Seit wann brauchen die für ne einfache Lastschrift meine Bankzugangsdaten? Und die soll ich auf deren Website eingeben?

Gibt's da nen Workaround?

#Jellyfin ist ne coole Sache und ich mag das Projekt.

Trotzdem hat es so seine Macken. Und die sind nicht ohne: Beispielsweise fängt die offizielle App beim Musikplayback an, zu stottern. Nämlich dann, wenn sie nicht mehr im Hintergrund läuft.

Das Problem ist bekannt und liegt wohl daran, dass die App in Grunde nur ein Webbrowser ist, der dann von Android schlafen gelegt wird.

Aber trotzdem. Das ist doch eine absolut grundlegende Funktion. Dass das so schlecht funktioniert, frustriert.

I'd like to remind all Mastodon users that you can add a language filter to any follow relationship on Mastodon.

If you follow me and you don't speak German, you can easily remove my German posts from your timeline by adjusting the language settings.

Go to my profile page, select the dot menu and click "Change subscribed languages". Then select the languages that you speak.

This really is a hidden gem 💎 on Mastodon and not many people seem to know this feature :awesome:

Now that the first official, federated connection from a Fediverse account to a single (!) Meta threads.net account has been made, the Threads topic is boiling up again.

Many of us Fediverse citizens see this as an opportunity for the Fediverse to gain in importance.

At least as many are sceptical about whether we should be exchanging data with Threads at all.

As an instance admin, I'm worried about making a decision that could alienate users on both sides. 😓 🧵

Okay Leute, spart euch sich die Hashtagwolken. Hashtags sind super, aber nur, wenn es auch eine Chance gibt, dass sie wiederverwendet werden.

Ein Hashtag für #ichRegMichÜberHashtagsAuf112846 ins Leben zu rufen ist völlig behämmert, weil das nie wieder jemand klicken wird.

Das ist viel, viel, viel zu spezifisch. Macht doch lieber #hashtag und #rant dazu, dann passt die Sache 😮‍💨

Au weh. Wird wohl doch ein neues Board :(

Da ist was korrodiert oder zu heiß geworden oder beides.

Der Hersteller hat mich schon vorgewarnt, dass die Qualität der alten Modelle nicht so gut ist und sie deshalb auch den Produktionsstandort von China nach Malaysia verlegt haben.

Schade, aber das kann ich nicht reparieren. Immerhin kann man die Elektronik (aktualisiert, mit ein paar neuen Features) aber auch für den älteren Sub bekommen :) das ist top! Kostet halt.

Metalhead.club currently loses about 6 % to 9 % active users per month.

Well, it's no surprise that users lose interest, especially if they registered during one of the user waves and just wanted to check out what this Mastodon or Fediverse thing is.

Nevertheless it's sometimes a bit sad to see the numbers drop ;)

But of course I'm still happy to host this place for you - even if it'd be just 100 users. 😉

What MAU rate do you observe on your instances?

This tool lets me monitor the #ActivityPub federation traffic from/to my Mastodon instance metalhead.club.

You can clearly see the other server locations - mainly in the US and Europe.

The tool is not ready for the public, but once it's finished and stable, I'll let you know :)

Nachdem ZFS (zfsutils-linux) unter Armbian immer noch nicht installierbar ist wegen nicht auflösbarer Paketkonflikte und ich relativ schnell eine funktionierende Lösung brauche, habe ich gestern mal mit etwas Aufwand auf BTRFS umgestellt und sehe mir das nun mal an.

Ist eh überfällig, mich damit mal genauer auseinandersetzen.

Currently metalhead.club is using the DeepL Free API for post translation, which means we can translate up to 500,000 characters per month.

Usually the "payment" period ends on 7th of each month but most of the time we run out of free characters shortly before the "reset" and the translation service is not available for a few days each month.

We could upgrade to 1,000,000 characters per month, which you'd probably suffice. But that's an additional € 25 on our invoices. What do you think?
