I like the Foundation TV series. (Regardless of how much it bears a relation to the books).

I like it because it feels like modern 'Space Opera' science fiction and, it makes me feel the same thing that reading good sci fi makes me feel…

Anyone who's suffered from sciatica (trapped nerve in lower back causing pain down the back and leg) have any tips?

I'm on Ibuprofen and have a heat pack on my back, and I'm trying to stay mobile.

Also - how long were you in pain / affected?

Every now and again I manage to get away from my desk and out for a walk with my camera (Fuji X-T4 for those that are curious).

Yesterday I went for a long, hot, walk on Chobham Common, a huge area of lowland heath and woodland in SE England.

A quick two penneth (putting the privacy elephant in the room aside for a moment):

Bluesky: first experience - empty. Void. Hard to find people I want to follow.

Threads: very quick easy setup process if you’re on insta (which will be key for most people), but once in it’s chaos and anxiety inducing. Can’t turn off suggested posts, doesn’t remember where you were (and it’s an algorithmic timeline anyway).

It’s interesting to dip into others, but it just solidifies why I’m on Mastodon.

@jonhicks Bluesky is an odd one. It’s currently sparsely populated, and almost my entire feed is other creators - simply because it’s still invite only. It’s like the lobby at a conference.

Nice to chat to peers, but for an indie artist, entirely useless for building an audience.

Threads will probably be the opposite. A ready made audience, due to existing IG following, but noisy and unpleasant.

@jonhicks I'm sure. Engagement there had taken a dive long before Musk got his hands on Twitter. I doubt they'll use that as an opportunity to 'right' things with Threads though.

Might just go make a zine and hand it out on the street.

When I left art college (kicked out for the second time), I didn't draw again for almost 20 years. When I did pick up a pen, I soon realised I needed to draw regularly if I wanted to improve. So I decided I'd draw a Robot a Day for a month, which soon became a year…

I was rubbish when I started, 365 robot drawings later, I was a bit better - but not much.

So, Robot one from ten years ago, robot two from 9 years ago, and robot three from a few months ago.

Draw, draw, draw…
