Microsoft Dame auf dem "KI gegen den Klimawandel" Panel ist sehr gut vorbereitet und lenkt sehr gut vom Thema ab: Microsoft kann seine vor wenigen Jahren gross angekündigte "Carbon Negativity" nicht mehr einhalten wegen "KI", Microsoft's CO2 Emissionen gehen gerade hoch und nicht runter. #rp24

“Empty Innovation” at Re:Publica 2024 #rp24

Under the motto "Who Cares" Re:Publica gathered a few thousand people in Berlin and I got to give a talk continuing the path I started out on with my last two talks in 2022 and 2023. Titled "Empty Innovation" I tried outlining my understanding of the patterns of the weird technological hypes we've gone through in the last years, why they happen and also what this mode of "innovation" does to us as people, communities and societies.

📣 Care-Arbeit hat mehr Anerkennung verdient – auch im Digitalbereich.

Gestern hat unsere Vorständin @FranziskaHeine mit @tante in einem Impulsvortrag dieses Thema auf der @republica präsentiert.

In der anschließenden Paneldiskussion mit Anika Krellmann (KGSt) und MdB Anna Kassautzki (SPD) wurde darüber diskutiert, dass Maintenance in staatlichen Förderprogrammen bislang keine Rolle spielt.

das ist … weird. ich versuche mir ein stimmungsbild über den baerbock-talk gestern auf der #rp24 zu machen und durchsuche die kanäle, die ich so nutze, mastodon, bluesky, threads und … fast nichts? zumindest keine debatte, fast kaum krititische posts und alles voller baerbockfans?

sind diese gewässer wirklich so seicht? ist die ganze debatte noch drüben bei x?

Conference attendance without Twitter is a bit weird. Like there is a hole where there used to be a common digital layer that everyone was a part of, where you could get a feel for the vibe and mood and who is there.
