This is interesting... the tack Schiff is taking is not "you can do this" or "you can't do this" but "you have to admit in public that you did it" which is more than they're doing right now.
there is something inherently crazymaking about the fact that the emails/training warning us about not clicking on emails from outside the organization, come in the form of emails from outside the organization asking us to click on things
I want to decorate my laptops with stickers like cool kids but I don't have any and don't know what I would want to put on them. Maybe esperanto and toki pona stuff.... You're suposed to put your favorite cool hipster programming languages or frameworks on them, but I don't have extremely warm feelings toward any such thing
Eclipse plans acquired: booked a room in Indiana in an area that's going to get about 2 min of totality. I imagine the highway going home is going to be the worst ever, but that's fine.
@mph I've been trying to remember where Lex Fridman's come up before in my online life and I can't remember. I must have listened to something of his at some time. But I don't know what.
He sounds like a person whose life makes the world worse.
Been thinking about this lately and saw a post about it today... it's weird how idealized the word "punk" has become. I was a child in the 70s and never really a fan of punk rock even when I was older, but, like, while they hated Thatcher and all that, I don't know that the OG punks would have upbraided someone for being insufficiently punk rock because their politics were not sufficiently liberatory. I mean they wanted "Anarchy in the UK" but they probably weren't reading Murray Boochkin?
@mph Agreed, I think. I don't buy the "it's the fediverse, openness of everything to everything is inherently good" - we want a house with walls. We'd just like there to be doors and windows too. Without getting too far into this metaphor, I wouldn't be interested in buying a house from an architect who considered walls to be a last resort when everything else failed.
Random REM related thing of the day: Susanna "The Bangles" Hoffs and Matthew "Matthew Sweet" Sweet cover "Sitting Still." (first time I've been able to understand most of the lyrics....)
@mph of course I could never buy one because what if I bought one with "wisteria" switches when I would actually have been happier with "cowberry" or "moss" switches??
