Chesa Boudin: "If we're at a point in American history where seeing poverty makes us uncomfortable or unsafe, living in big cities is going to be tough. Every big city in America has visible poverty."

"At the same time, people like you and I do have a right to feel safe. We have to think about what's actually going to work... The courtroom that's being used to prosecute the homeless is not being allocated to prosecute actual crimes."

"In the June 2022 election, [Neighbors for a Better San Francisco] spent more than $4.7 million — the most of any contributor — to boost the successful recall of progressive District Attorney Chesa Boudin."

they spent $9.43 per registered voter in one race, and they're just one of multiple dark-money groups that funded it. these are unprecedented levels of bullshit amplification. the votes we're seeing are not where SF voters would have landed organically

Based on survey and census data, our best estimation is that San Francisco metropolitan area residents would consider a household that makes about $700,000 per year to be rich.

LOL. If I made a quarter of that I’d feel hella rich.

@chema "Bay Area residents were more likely to think about wealth as being free from financial stress and having enjoyable experiences than as simply having a lot of money"

Everyone should have that.

"for Republican lawmakers, criticizing university presidents for failing to protect Jewish students from antisemitism is a useful political issue with the potential to deepen divisions among Democrats — one that, unsurprisingly, they have pursued vociferously."

thing is, Democratic voters are not divided. 75% disapprove of Israel's actions in Gaza!

https://www.sfmta.com/reports/west-portal-station-safety-and-community-space-improvements-proposed-design

I told them to include a cut-out for bikes to enter Lenox northbound, even if cars can't. It's the way to the rec center and school, and it's safer to design for this than the alternative (bikes going the wrong way/on sidewalk). #VisionZeroSF
