Note to self: do not light up a smoke when you have a leaky propane tank in your car. 😬 https://www.cbsnews.com/losangeles/news/car-explodes-in-van-nuys-parking-lot/

@shekinahcancook @ai6yr I want to say that in Cash the autobiography Johnny Cash did there was a story about an awakening to his speed abuse that revolved around chucking a propane cylinder in the trunk of the car to get it filled and being in such a drugged up hurry that the valve was open. He only realized he cheated fate by luck and went back to working on sobriety if I remember correctly.

I repeat:

It's a mistake that #Trump's trial isn't broadcast 'live'
if it were
it would be impossible for Trump to continue to say he is treated 'unfairly'
#MAGAs only believe 'Trump's word'
but...
Seeing and knowing is better than just 'believing'
there is an abyss of difference
MAGAs should >see<
then they would no longer believe Trump's lies.

@shekinahcancook @chiamaluca Not just the MAGA audience but the state actors steering the MAGA audience from Putin-land and/or Elsewhere.
There's this scene in Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas that comes to mind when HST is looking for some golf shoes at the bar and notes were in the middle of a reptile zoo and someone is feeding these things booze!

So a long time ago in a galaxy far away called the Adirondacks I had to buy a new stove. You see, we lived on a electrical pin cushion. Summers when you'd see a little flicker of lightning the telephone would ring a few rings because the wires were an effective antenna collecting the energy. It was vital to get the least electronicated anything you could get as no amount of grounding was going to guarantee a full life to things designed around regulated 5VDC current. I can still remember diving for the modem line when I heard thunder. I despise this level of engineering. I was taught in civil to look for where the thing will break and harden it, then look again.

New York will be the first state to receive federal Inflation Reduction Act rebates for heat pumps and other climate-friendly appliances.

11 other states have filed applications to distribute IRA funding tied to energy-efficient appliances: Arizona, California, Colorado, Georgia, Hawaii, Indiana, Minnesota, New Hampshire, New Mexico, Oregon, and Washington.

@TonyStark kinda neat, I work for NYSEG and there's a program they have started to buy out some people and electrify their houses. Senerio is like this: you're at the end of a dead end main and the last customer. Rather than relaying that methane pipe to you they buy you out change over appliances and terminate the gas line earlier. Usually during leak prone main replacement jobs I think the first one was Irondequoit, NY under the RGE banner. We're all subsidiary to Avangrid which is under Iberdrola in Spain.

ISPs can charge extra for fast gaming under FCC’s Internet rules, critics say

FCC plan rejected request to ban what agency calls "positive" discrimination.

Okay linguists. I was just taking the spent coffee out of this device in my kitchen and it occurred to me that calling them coffee grounds might be an awkward English expression. How do we call the spent coffee from this device in other languages? Like, it's coffee or ground coffee until you use it and then they become coffee grounds at least in this part of New York State English speak. #askingforafriend

Anyone else having a hard time getting psyched up for Pesach? Big shifts in my (former) shul, loss of long standing Rabbi, 180⁰ shift in board leadership, not good. Things change, but they threw away my last 6 years with 2 hands and a smile. Then there's of course the war. There will be no local siyyum for 1st born this year, so zoom again. It's just been hard.

queencitynerd,
@queencitynerd@babka.social avatar

@shekinahcancook I was a layleader, our Rabbi Dyan was ordained Mefista Adath, Renewand then made Dyan. One of 4 in the US. We led the shul thru COVID. I did some yeshiva training. Learning zoom, singing to cameras, 2 years, every holiday. There was a contingent that despised things being too Jewish for them. They'd get mad at say, keeping a kosher kitchen in the shul. Not allowing baking on a holiday. Hebrew is offensive even, as many didn't understand it at all. Some intermarried spouses in particular wanted church minus Jesus. Anything that made it a shul and not a JCC. They hired a guy with a very questionable smicha, and was a yes man who dismantled things. It's been crushing. I lost count of the funerals I was a part of, the years of weekends volunteered to keep it running. The constant good attendance and growth we saw. It'll be a hard seder but we'll do.
