if you’ve ever tried to organize political change irl, you know that broad appeals on social media are a footnote to your real work of spreadsheets, phone calls, knocking on doors, and learning how to meet folks where they’re at & catalyze action. you know you don’t turn out your votes or actions by posting, and you definitely know that insulting people is not persuasive and gives your cause a bad name

viciously blaming all current problems on hypothetical leftists or nonvoters is a big win for fascists: they really want you sitting at your keyboard enraged at your own base or an abstract left wing. because then you’re not out building community with vulnerable people, you’re not having nuanced and intelligent discussion with folk who have different life experiences, you’re not — to put it bluntly — practicing the kind of solidarity that defeats fascism

Wenn du queer bist, outest du dich immer und immer wieder. Jedes Mal, wenn du einen neuen Menschen in dein Leben lässt, sei es platonisch oder romantisch, wenn jemand nach deinem Privatleben fragt, wenn jemand Neues in dein Team kommt, wenn deine Beziehung sichtbar und nicht straight-passing ist oder wenn du nicht in die Gender-Box passt, in die dich jemand steckt, musst du dich entscheiden, ob du dich outest oder nicht. Jedes Mal. Immer wieder. Und ja, jedes Mal ist da Sorge, Angst, Aufregung.

Immer unorganisiert sein - das ist nur eine von vielen großen Baustellen bei Menschen mit Kiffsucht, mit denen sie bei anderen oft anecken. Sie wirken chaotisch, verlieren oder verlegen ständig Dinge. Grund dafür ist nicht Faulheit, sondern ein Ungleichgewicht zwischen Botenstoffen in ihrem Gehirn.

A thing I have noticed. 2 decades ago, there was decent pharmaceutical knowledge in the trans community. We knew what GnRH agonists were and how they work. We knew that for trans girls, if you couldn’t get them, then a cocktail of spironolactone and finasteride would do a pretty good job as a replacement. We knew that cyproterone acetate worked even better than spiro, but was hepatotoxic, so be careful.

I feel like that’s all been … lost?

I suspect that until this sentence, most currently transitioning people won’t even know that GnRH agonist is the proper term for what is frequently and misleadingly called a “puberty blocker”.

How did we let all this knowledge get lost? We, as a community, used to know how to outflank attempts to stop us accessing medication.

Now the British government just go, “we’re banning prescription of puberty blockers” and everyone throws their hands up and goes, “oh well, no alternative but unopposed testosterone I guess”.

We were better than this. Why did that go away?

Deutsche Sozialdemokratie ist, wenn man sich bei günstiger Gelegenheit als (bürgerlich) antifaschistisch in der Öffentlichkeit inszeniert, während man sich gleichzeitig an seinen "post"-faschistischen Vorbildern orientiert, um einen Krieg gegen Menschen auf der Flucht zu führen.

Und während sie gerne mal was von "gemeinsames Europa" faseln (ist damit eine neue Achse Berlin-Rom gemeint?), errichten die #SPD und ihre eifrige Vorratsdaten-Nancy ein strammes Außen- und Binnen-Grenzregime.

Okay, #fedipower, ich brauch mal nen Labeldrucker.

Anforderungen:

  1. Eigene Tastatur/Display, mit der ich ohne weitere Geräte Standardlabels drucken kann.
  2. Kann per USB angesprochen werden, um Standardlabel oder Bitmaps von Linux zu drucken (CLI tooling oder einfach nur ein USB-Serial-Socket + Protokollspezifikation würd mir reichen).
  3. Kein DRM auf Tapes und keine Anzeichen vom Hersteller, so was einführen zu wollen.

Wegen 3 seh ich nur Brother, dort aber nix, was 1 und 2 kann. Gibts da noch andere?

Die Debatte über das Sylt-Video zeigt, wie wenig die letzten Jahrzehnte die Perspektive eingewanderter Menschen stattfindet. „Ausländer raus!” war nie weg und schon immer ein Gedanke, der in allen Teilen der Gesellschaft vorlag. Die Leute haben nun nur das Gefühl, es wieder laut(er) sagen zu können.
