I need a #CovidSafe eye doctor in the #NYC area; #Brooklyn or #Manhattan would be great! In terms of what precautions they take, I'm looking for the works, ideally, but the most important thing is the use of #PPE #N95 by all office staff.

My brother's girlfriend started feeling sick (sore throat and cough) on Thursday & went to get
#PCR tested for #Covid.

At the clinic, they did a panel of tests for a barrage of respiratory bugs and found a coinfection of #rhinovirus and #StreptococcusPneumoniae, also known as #Pneumococcus.

In #Chicago. In August.

nothingtoseehere,

She knows she must #WearAMask and to my knowledge, does whenever indoors. But she works with dozens of #unmasked kids, teaching music.

Everyone is glad she doesn’t have #Covid19 but still. Jesus.

nothingtoseehere,

She's doing okay resting at home right now 🙏🏼

She's not one of those who's in denial about #SarsCov2 and its damaging effects on the immune system, & has now vocally expressed that she thinks she's
#immunocompromised since having had #Covid a second (known) time in May 2022.

nothingtoseehere,

She has another appointment today to try to get antibiotics and make sure her wet cough hasn't progressed to #pneumonia.

I REALLY hope that, sometime in the near future, she can get a #lymphocyte count panel done to ascertain what's going on with her immune system!

nothingtoseehere,

Context: since having had #Covid number 2 last spring, she has been almost nonstop sick. From a chronic cough to (what seemed like) colds to a several stomach bugs, none of which indicated she had #Covid when tested for.

She’s 21 years old. #CovidIsNotOver and now is definitely not the time to get complacent! #UpgradeYourMask and #WearARespirator such as an #N95 or #elastomeric. @novid

Today is 10 days post exposure to #Covid at work. #Lucira #NAAT #MolecularTest shows a negative!

Because NAAT offers a 95 to 99% accurate result (as long as the sample was collected properly), I feel confident that this negative result is a true negative.

No symptom development. Rigorous #N95 use, plus nasal spray & mouthwash, works ✅

nothingtoseehere,

Also, I’m extra grateful for this negative result, as today marks the one year anniversary since I tested positive for #Covid for the first (and only) time.

This entire week and a half, I’ve been nervous to test because I was being irrationally superstitious re: “what if I can’t even make it a year without contracting covid again?” 🥹

On Wednesday morning, after we found out about the case, I met with my supervisor in her office. I relayed my concerns re: and 5 day isolation/stay home reqs for staff & students.

You can imagine how it went. Lots of incorrect/outdated talking points from her, gentle (but firm) retorts from me, trying to convey the gravity of it all.

I realized: this is what the avg American thinks about the pandemic bc of ’s inaccurate, harmful takes.

@novid

nothingtoseehere,

@novid I don’t think I truly understood before this past week: the regular, everyday people who are implementing #Covid precautions/mandates in their workplaces are so misinformed it’s laughable.

They are only following the policy/guidance that they feel is necessary, and this seems to be done in good faith. They don’t know anything except for what the TV news tells them.

BUT it’s too late in the game to be allowing even reg people to skate by with the defense of “not knowing.”

nothingtoseehere,

@novid My supervisor seemed frustrated with me when I was refuting her points about how long the average person is contagious with , how everyone should be wearing and , even the kids, etc. Info I consider basic, she had absolutely no knowledge of.

I tend to avoid confrontation, so this wasn’t an easy conversation to have. But she agreed to read up so she might be able to implement more precautions before sessions start again w/the kiddos in a month.

nothingtoseehere,

@novid I sent her an email full of reading materials accessible/comprehensible to the layperson, including Substack pieces by @jessicawildfire and @PeoplesCDC.

I also sent her links to a couple really amazing databases full of #ScientificStudies and #PeerReviewed literature, organized by topic, including this one: https://www.zotero.org/groups/5006109/covidstudies/library

nothingtoseehere,

@novid She said she will look through them over the next few weeks. I would like to believe she’ll digest this info critically, but I’m not sure if she’ll feel too overwhelmed and just quit before she gets ahead.

She has a PhD. She went to an Ivy to get it. She can read and comprehend information.

Whether she’ll synthesize this information to make informed decisions that benefit everyone in the workplace remains to be seen.

Three days later and several more people are showing symptoms of after being exposed to the confirmed positive case from Tuesday. 😵‍💫

Obviously, they’re still coming to work/school. Obviously, I’m keeping my on and using nasal spray and mouthwash multiple times per day. Hoping my 2x is offering a little extra protection!

from : I’m hearing anecdotes about recent/current infections, and symptoms that appear to characterize the newest are respiratory in nature. Specifically:

Bad cough; “water in lungs” feeling; trouble taking deep breaths; lung congestion.

Since almost any symptom could be caused by these days, stay alert and continue being !

Two days into my new job and I’ve already been exposed to #covid! Good think I always wear an #N95 even outdoors when I am around other people.

Given the fact that nobody else in my workplace was wearing a #mask or #respirator, this should be a good litmus test of my #PPE and other precautions.

nothingtoseehere,

@andrewbriscoe I almost wish they wouldn’t. I work in administration at a child study center so there’s a lot of communication between parents and staff as we are a relatively small operation.

I already go through my daily life operating under the assumption that there’s at least one person near me who’s asymptomatic/hasn’t developed symptoms of COVID yet, so at least my mindset already puts me at an advantage in that sense 😅

nothingtoseehere,

@andrewbriscoe I’m sorry that happened to you; it’s all really, REALLY a shit show nowadays.

Side note, I appreciate that you specified that your mask was not fit tested at the time at which you got COVID; I say this bc I think that sometimes, when people simply read “I got COVID even though I was wearing a mask!” they’re then more likely to go on to think that masks don’t work.

On the contrary, sometimes it’s just about finding the kind that fits you! @novid

Hey people! I start a new job tomorrow (fully in person) & am a little nervous about keeping myself safe. Here’s what I’ve got in my toolkit:

  1. and
  2. purifier for my desk
  3. monitor
  4. nasal spray
  5. mouthwash

I’ll only eat outdoors, weather permitting; otherwise I’ll find a private room & run the purifier before unmasking. I will use several times per day.

Anything I’m forgetting? 😷

nothingtoseehere, to random

Can’t believe “experts” are on the weather channel right now telling everyone to wear #N95 respirators outdoors while standing outdoors, NOT WEARING N95s, just holding them…

#PPE only works if you wear it! #WearARespirator and stay indoors!

Dispatch from #Brooklyn #NYC

I’ve started collecting my own examples of “my kids are always sick” from #SocialMedia…it’s getting increasingly more common to see these kinds of posts dominating my feeds.

I think it’s important to keep sharing this kind of anecdote, esp when it seems like everyone is desperately embracing the #COVID “being over” nonsense.

Dispatch from #Brooklyn #NYC — Someone I follow on Instagram posted this reel to their story; to be clear the OP is talking about “really bad allergies” and the person I follow is agreeing.

I do think that the pollen in NYC is really bad right now & agree that I never had allergies before I moved here…but can’t help wondering if anyone else still tests for #COVID 🫢

Despite being vocal about how important it is to advocate for yourself (in the form of asking people to wear a #mask or #respirator in your personal space), asking people to do so in real time can be intimidating. Especially when they’re both a stranger and a cisgender man 🥹

Luckily, there are still people who seem not to give a fuck and will do as you ask.

Important question for all who #WearARespirator!

My partner is tired of wearing #3mAura bc they make her feel claustrophobic (sensory) & don’t always seal properly around the nose.

We’re looking for a new kind of #respirator for her that has a pretty universal fit (which I’ve been told is true of Auras; I love them for me).

Tried #duckbill #N95 by Blox, but the wire is a bit harsh/tight on the bridge of her nose.

Thank you ☺️
