This is amusing. In my parent's stuff, I found a program for the 1985 Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta. Flipping through it I noticed, of course, the lack of any web addresses. But then I stopped on the ad below because I saw the familiar face of actor Dick Van Patten (1928-2015). 1985 was still the age of pagers, and "car telephones" were very rare. Lol!

This morning is all about trying to track down some of my antipsychotic, then this afternoon my daughter and her bf arrive for a long weekend, so looking forward to seeing them. They’re cat sitting tomorrow as we’re spending the night in Cardiff. Should be good! What are you up to today?

Since irises are showing their beautiful faces now, here are two of my fave pics from a (genuinely) medieval garden at the Abbaye Royale de Fontevraud, Loire Valley, France. (Although their remains are absent, this is the original burial site of Henry II, Eleanor of Aquitaine, Richard the Lionheart, etc.)

@cynblogger hi. Gorgeous irises, I have photos of a very similar variety from the front of my house. I don't remember where I got it from, the rest of my irises are purples.

    @ojala I got both Friday, easy as, just at the pharmacy, they were happy to have walking- I made the Friday appointment just in case I felt any negative effects.

    I am grateful for the opportunity to walk around the base of Mount Maunganui (Mauao) on such a beautiful day. I was very lucky to visit this beautiful place with friends in the weekend.

    I'm off to give blood for the first time ever shortly. I lived in the UK in 1986 and I've never been able to donate until now.
    I am trying not to think too hard about it. I hope it's something I will be able to do regularly from now on.

    The shy dunnock can be seen hopping about under hedges as its other name, 'hedge sparrow', suggests. It inhabits gardens, woodlands, hedgerows and parks.

    @JimsPhotos I am enjoying the bird life around where I live more and more. We have quite an extensive predator control effort underway in NZ to help our native species thrive with fewer rats, mustelids and possums... it's great to see more returning due to this work and the planting that's happening too.

    This is a short video of a fantail having a quick bath and flit on and off the edge of a terracotta birdbath outside my bedroom window. It is so quick to maneuver, changing directions and jumping in and out of the water. It was making some gentle chattery peeps too. The fan was fully open most of the time.
