I just want to take a moment to thank everyone who ever replied to any rant, cry for help or daft thing I've posted since being on Masto. However, I'm no good with Masto. Some of you I don't know how to contact, can't find you no matter how I spell your handle in the search. Following you & clicking the bell doesn't seem to help. I realise DMs are not private. So I keep putting out generic conversation pieces that must seem ignorant of your being so friendly & engaging previously. I'm sorry!

@bazkie I use both and I don't think there are any technical issues, I'm just not too bright and haven't had time/energy to investigate piloting Masto better. I've done little more than log in. I do find people hard to find - even my fave folks. I rely on the chance of them posting and the chance of my seeing it. If tomorrow I type in @bazkie I doubt masto will show me your full contact if any, it won't autocomplete it. I'd have to try to find a post & get it that way.

@bazkie There's a lovely guy in Peurto Rico we've chatted plenty but I can't find him now. But I type @psychicparrot42 now and Masto almost beats me to it. But I guess that means Jeff owns Masto and isn't telling. I mean I know thats not possible, no one owns it. Except Jeff probably does.

I appreciate that its not the same as voting with your conscience (I would vote Green!) but with our crappy 'first past the post' electoral system, first and foremost the UK needs an end to continuous Tory governments. Using this link I get an idea of who I need to vote for in my constituency to, statistically if not morally, absolutely clobber the Tories into oblivion.

I'd appreciate if you could share this around. As someone opposed to for a dozen reasons there was only that was semi-ethical & gave musicians a fair deal. Bandcamp is under new ownership, had big layoffs, changed their terms & are starting playlists (likely to fill with AI music?). Thankfully coops such as Mirlo offer a place to share our music that doesn't simply enrich dubious tech giants.

    This threatened my sanity. Happy with a menu scene and its UI in #Godot, I copied the controls and buttons to a new menu scene. Changed the script in each button & it seems I had to edit each signal too. Then on testing I get buttons linking to the wrong path. I find they've changed their path themselves. Impossible? I re-edit wrong buttons, get them working but other buttons stop working. I edit those, test, some work but others now need re-re-editing. Seems signal related? #gameDev

    GUI Mess

    I'll create a button entirely in code
    or I can add one as a Godot node
    I could reference it as an image to load
    so the user can press on an icon as showed
    I can make it a label, a label with text
    or add a box with collision detect
    That requires experience that I haven't got
    as to whether to make it a hotspot or not
    Interaction semantics and arguing facts
    Don't begin to correct my wayward syntax
    This fuss over buttons to some will be petty
    But I'm making a game, not making spagetti!

    For those reading, I'm currently using button nodes with text labels - I guess? But in future I'd probably prefer the buttons to be sprites because thats how we create custom UIs, right? I'm guessing this will still be a button node of sorts but one I can 'texture' with an image? Thanks, anyone 🤠

    I get that BBC & ITV are nothing but right wing & Establishment, though I sometimes half-hope that Ch4 had a more honorable remit. After the usual Ch4 News centrist show, tonight is vocal Tory Kirsty Alsop's unaffordable property porn & a new 'reality' show Double Your Money. I guess I could switch to BBC if I wanted to know how the Royal Family are or how the somewhat priviledged Chelsea Flower Show is. There's a 'culture war' going on alright, just not the one headlined in the media. 🙄

    Would anyone please explain to an idiot what addons are & what plugins are in the context of , please? My guess is they're something that would not ordinarily be 'part' of the base Godot. I presume they would be copied (cloned?) from some weird place like Git into the specific one-off project folder (though I'd rather they always load whenever running Godot since they seem essential for my work?) ? Thanks 🙂

    I mean I'm not complaining, of course, but #WadjetEye are never on here, like ever. Not even slightly ever. So does anyone have a way of remembering in what order to play the Blackwell games? I'm truly determined to give them their due, not so determined that I'd create an account on any fascist social media though, so I'll go wiki it yet again and try to fix it in my brain.

    @Craigp I mean golfy foremost, with the visuals and soundtrack being more the 'game juice' but well done, so in my opinion it works as casual golf and as satire etc. Its no solo effort though, I seem to recall being knocked over by the size of the team 🤔

    @Craigp I've about 5 hours rough story edited from about 30 hours footage, 1999-2002. Its a sword and sandals epic with mythical beasts etc. I also have a Starsky & Hutch kinda thing from the same golden era.

    An annoying thing, that I suspect is ADHD, is I come to want to export the art for a game, to build it in Godot and find that just about every single thing is half - finished. Its all started, all potentially looks great, but none of it is 'game ready', clearly each thing is a case of "I'll do that properly later!". Well... Later is coming calling 😄
