My blog (@coxy) is hosted on a very small server package from the hosting company. It costs me about £10/month and does the job just fine.

Until I installed the #ActivityPub plug-in on #WordPress and now every interaction I get from #Mastodon to my WordPress blog takes the site offline.

Decided I should install #Linux on my laptop and then failed.

Something like this:

1. Work out what distro of Linux I should install? Idk. Maybe @Solus? 🤷

2. Work out what the differences are between Budgie, GNOME, Plasma, or XKGB versions? Idk. Probably Budgie? 🤷

3. Download via torrent 😎

4. Spend 15 mins trying to work out what the app for making disk images is called. Etcher? Got it.

5. Realise I don't have a USB flash drive in the house. Or a blank DVD. Or an SD card reader.

Wow whee - just got an email from #PayPal to say that my #LastFM yearly subscription price changed from $30 to $50.

Crazy stuff. I get that inflation is a thing; but the site is entirely user contributed data - from the scrobbling of the tracks to editing data and uploading images and links in the database.

And they sell that data to other companies. And haven’t updated their website or apps in so, so, long. The whole thing is pretty much in maintenance mode.

Got a new router sent to me by my ISP :telenor: and now I don’t know what to do: replace my existing one or not.

My existing one is a shop-bought ASUS router which was good about 10 years ago. It works. 🤷

The new one is branded and probably limited by the firmware of what you can do with it, but the technical specs are better. 🫤

Every family member I have uses Chrome on their mobile because “Google” and pretty much every family member has over 100 tabs open at any one time.

And that’s not because they want 99+ tabs open. It’s because they simply don’t close them / practice tab management.

Like, it’s a little frustrating that they all use Chrome, but even more frustrating that Chrome doesn’t have the option to “Close tabs after {days}” option.
