I have 1 rule when it comes to weather. You can only "hate" 1 season. If you hate 2 seasons or more, then you probably should consider relocating.

I really hate summer. Hot, sweaty, sun burning off your skin. Even in the morning, that morning run... not enough white reflective layers in the world.

On the plus side, it did inspire the song "Chasing Shadows"!

Am I allowed to hate extremes?

I'm good with 95% of summer, 95% of winter, same for fall/spring.

What I dislike is those days when it's super hot, super humid, all day, or when it's -1 to -20 below and windy, or when it rains top to bottom in spring, or those early sunset days of fall/winter.

I'm generally good with the changing seasons, but the extremes get me.

@JustBrogrammer @WTL @atoponce I was going to go with my shoe rotation, and quality socks playing into it. But honestly it's luck, and not running ultras.

I've had a few gnarly blisters from long runs in the rain, and the typical calluses, but other than ugly toes, I'm lucky I guess.

The topic of first concerts we saw came up today and I was floored to realize that today is the thirtieth anniversary of my seeing Pink Floyd in concert at the Big O (Olympic stadium) in Montreal.

What a band to see live. And really set expectations way too high for other concerts.

After 3 - 4 months of searching at every store possible, we were finally able to find the new Coffee Mate Dirty Soda online at Walmart, so we ordered it.

It arrived today and the wife and I decided to try it in Dr. Pepper, which it says is the best, and she tried it with Diet Coke.

The version with the Dr. Pepper came out the best, just as it did when we tried Sonic's version of Dirty Soda with Dr. Pepper, Diet Coke and sweet tea.

Definitely recommended!

A sobering article. But it all comes to understanding when and how yo push yourself and pay attention to what your body is telling you. I’m a wee bit younger but am still running the occasional marathon, lots of half marathon distances (31 in March 2024) and I have always known when to give it a rest and how valuable good shoes are (and when to dispose of them).

I'd love to be humble bragging about a new pr, but I failed to deliver l, and ran my worst official marathon finish, +40 off my pr. I didn't quit, there is something in that, but couldn't get out a full race. Some days are harder than others.

You only get so many bites at the apple, you have to find the good in the bad sometimes. Boston is a privilege to get to run. I thought many times how I may never be back, so I needed to soak it all in.
I run for health and enjoyment, if its unfun, I'm doing it wrong.
I cannot find words that describe the expectations I had going in, and how far these are off them, but that's something I'm working through. I'm not going to lie, I sat in my car in the garage post ride home and had a good cry.

Went to fill the espresso grinder last night and one thing led to another. You know, take the top plastic off to clean accumulated oils, which exposes burr area rimmed with over a decade of caked on oils and grounds, and before I knew it the whole top mechanism is disassembled on kitchen counter with parts soaking in hot soapy water.
Essentially this thing is a giant motor thinly covered in stainless steel with grinder and bean holder parked on top. A friend gave it to me over ten years ago when he upgraded (!) and it hasn't skipped a beat since. My espresso machine, from the same company, is getting close to its 20th birthday. Solid built units.

@mikesusz @jerzone I've had a barzata for 14 years now, and it's been extremely reliable. I wish to upgrade to something with better control at the finer end, but for an entry level conical burr grinder, I can't complain. Would 100% buy the brand again.

@cliffwade my personal computers get shut down when not in use, my work computer goes to sleep, and shutdown for travel, or only when needed.
I can't be assed to spend the time to reboot daily.
