@lutris how is it that everytime an installer draft is saved the "Reason" field is emptied?

lutris,
@lutris@fosstodon.org avatar

@envyniv the reason field should only be filled before submitting to moderation. Our code probably resets that field when saving between draft iterations

Save yourself some disk space, uninstall League of Legends. Vanguard has now been deployed and you will be stuck at "your computer must restart" message.

Try to get a refund if you ever paid Riot Games any money.

We ship a new release and we get complaints about AMD GPU Pro drivers and Lutris scripts not using a versioning system.

Maybe some donations would turn that 😩 into 😃 !!

(But seriously, please stop asking about AMD GPU Pro and versioning installers 🙏 )

Lutris 0.5.17 is out!
With this release we're introducing library syncing to Lutris.net, this allows to keep track of your games on multiple devices.

We're also adding real support for Proton thanks to umu. Please note that Proton/umu is still in an experimental stage.

@iod libstrangle hasn't been maintained for a long time. It's only for X11 and there are better options now.

Downloading GOG offline installers is often slow...
In the next release, we will be using gogdl (or its upcoming Rust replacement) to download GOG games.
We will also switch our Amazon integration to Nile (https://github.com/imLinguin/nile) which should solve some of our issues.

lutris,
@lutris@fosstodon.org avatar

@ProfessorCode since we have support for offline installers already, there's no reason for us to remove support for them.

@gamingonlinux everyone hates HDMI until they allow open source drivers.

Capturing videos of HDR games seems to be working just fine with the correct settings in OBS. HDR videos also play without issue on mpv.

Sharing those videos on the web while keeping HDR? that seems to be more of an issue at the moment...

If you are experiencing issues with EA App, you should be able to run it from the Lutris Flatpak, which you can install alongside the native version. We're looking into why EA App is crashing on some setups.

Do you have EA App crashing? What is your setup?

When you try to run Battlefield V on EA App, which now has the EA Anticheat, you get a pretty clear answer to why it won't launch.

Lutris 0.5.17 is almost out, introducing support for Proton with umu and library sync to Lutris.net!

If you know how to use Lutris from git, please give it a quick test and report any issues so we don't ship them in the final release!

The pre-release for Lutris 0.5.17 is available on Flathub Beta!

Something incredible is happening, I've noticed some substancial increase in framerates in pretty much every game. I managed to find some screenshots of benchmarks I ran earlier and the results are outstanding.
Here we have Cyberpunk 2077 and Avatar Frontiers of Pandora. Both tested January 18th and March 30th

Avatar January benchmark
Avatar March benchmark

Then I went and tried to compare with benchmarks of the 7800XT on Youtube. The most striking is how ray tracing performance improved. Hardware Unboxed and Linus Tech Tip get 27 fps on Cyberpunk 2077 at 1440p with Ray Tracing Ultra. I get 43 fps on the same settings, even beating the RTX 4070!

@fenglengshun usually, I don't pay much attention to min FPS unless there's a 1% low metric since there can easily be outliers. While playing it seems the FPS is consistently higher, with very few dips below the average. And I have a lot of AAA games on HDD, which doesn't help.

@somebody_master FSR is disabled in the game options but still shows up on three results so I'm not sure how to completely disable it. Without Ray tracing, FSR manages to properly disable itself

lutris,
@lutris@fosstodon.org avatar

@somebody_master that said the increase in performance in ray tracing is undeniable. Even the performance of RT overdrive (path tracing) has gone from around 4 fps to 11 fps.

Nintendo about to find out that you cannot sue open source code out of existence...

lutris,
@lutris@fosstodon.org avatar

@herzog Bleem wasn't open source. That said, it's still possible to download a copy of Bleem but there are much better choices to emulate a Playstation today.
