For some reason the bsky cross poster I’ve been using, Skymoth, is stuck ON and I can’t disable it…

I really dig the fourth shot here. 2000s album cover or 100gecs vibes

Looks like the bridge doesn’t quite support self replies

Definitely an issue for a platform with such a low character limit necessitating users self reply threads

lupomancer,
@lupomancer@furries.club avatar

The roadmap looks like all this will be sorted out though. This seems to be super early alpha stages

Just a follow up on this folks: I (or any other BSKY user) can’t see your interactions with BSKY posts unless you follow this account:

@bsky.brid.gy@bsky.brid.gy

This is because a bunch of fedi users got upset at the idea of the bridge so participation is OPT-IN ONLY

If you wanna interact with BSKY users, you MUST follow that account or else you’re basically just following an RSS feed of someone’s posts https://furries.club/@lupomancer/112414677366249953

@baralheia I was actually doing some testing last night and yeah the truncation isn’t the right decision. At least make a thread.

I didn’t know about the CW thing though, I’m undecided if posting the text is better or not than not posting CWs at all like Skymoth.

I think at this point it’s still useful if people want to interact with BSKY users, I’ve already got some people from fedi following and interacting with my bridged BSKY account but I’m not seeing any of those interactions or replies on BSKY because they aren’t following the bridge account and opting in

lupomancer,
@lupomancer@furries.club avatar

@thumper It's worth noting that the bridge doesn't post anything that isn't a public post!

lupomancer,
@lupomancer@furries.club avatar

@baralheia unfortunately I don't think the follow system is going to be changed... initially there was no opt-in system based on following, but fedi users freaked out at the dev and he had to institute this to make sure people can only be bridged if they want.

Personally I think that's hugely damaging to the utility of the bridge because that's basically limiting it to the %0.02 of users who are enabled and familiar enough to engage with the problem. That's totally ignoring the fact that a ton of instances have straight up blocked his, negating the bridge entirely.

It's really unfortunate because bridgy could have been amazing but somewhere along the line people forgot what federation was all about.

Man I’m definitely getting in suit this weekend. Seeing all these people at FWA makes me want to be a big soft animal

Let me know if any of you guys start bridging your masto accounts to BSKY so I can follow you over there!

Okay now I just need a BSKY app as good as Mona is for Mastodon and I’ll be happy.

Okay my bsky is bridging to fedi as

@sig.dog@bsky.brid.gy

oh holy shit it works!

@lupomancer@furries.club avatar

hoooo boy I'm starting to think you're not really supposed to have both a bsky and fedi account posting and bridging both ways

This is definitely VERY early

lupomancer, to random
@lupomancer@furries.club avatar

This account is now bridging to BSKY...

Kinda, I'm not really sure how it works

@snarfed.org@snarfed.org this bridge is really something!

I hate to hit you up on your personal account and grill you about it but I've got a couple questions!

  • Will there ever be a way to tell the bridge that "this is my bsky account and this is my fedi account" to manage them both from one place? Is that something that's even necessary?

  • Will there ever be away to drop the bridgy instance and use our BSKY handles as our fediverse handle? (my BSKY is sig.dog and it would be cool for my fedi to be @sig.dog@sig.dog)

  • Would there be any way to set it up such that fedi posts get bridged to our main BSKY account through some sort of app access? Or is that totally not how this works?

Upset that a guy called right 5 minutes before the end of my shift, cussed out my dispatcher because I couldn’t work on his machine, then complained to my CEO and manager.

Turns out that guy is the owner of one of the companies we have a contract with.

He scheduled an 8AM meeting with me tomorrow for the meeting he missed this afternoon. Im fully ready to get an earful from 8AM to 8:30 and make no progress on his ticket because he was too busy cussing ME out

Google sucks so bad

Say what you will about Apple junk, but man, it’s nice knowing the Apple health API has been around for almost 10 years and will likely be around for much longer.

Stability breeds developer confidence breeds good integration breeds useful apps.
The quality, stability, and 3rd party support of Apple Health and Apple Watch is probably tied for the biggest reason I stay on an iPhone.

Google fit could have been so good but it’s like they bought Fitbit and instead of integrating the two, they got cold feed and went for the one with brand recognition and killed their own solution off. https://mastodon.social/@arstechnica/112395938118040545

I wonder what the viability is of running Plex on a cloud machine.

My current setup worries me, and my 5.4TB that I have to share between my media library and all VMs is constantly full and I’m not going to be able to afford a full array upgrade any time soon

lupomancer,

@keiko Mmm, yeah that’s a good point

I know amazon sucks and I could get the functionality of Ring cheaper with a self-hosted solution.

But man, it is really nice just being able to plug a camera in and have it just work, and via some simple bridges I can get them plugged in to HomeKit while still allowing Android users to view as well.

Self-hosting would be nice in the future when I have a more reliable home server, but I don't want to trust data as critical as security cam footage on my recycling bin rescue HDDs
