Man some company in the UK I guess bought a bunch of rights to the Mythbusters episodes and has been uploading FULL EPISODES to YouTube and it fucking rocks.

I think they got some studio masters, because these are all the highest quality versions that exist anywhere

Feeling any software-related FOMO leave my body as Adobe threatens to sue users for using old versions of their programs, more triple-A games add kernel-level spyware for their games, and Windows continues to bog down the entire system with ads and anti-consumer lock-in.

I can’t wait until I can just follow bsky accounts via the bridge. I’ve been flitting back and forth between bsky and masto all week and man I really do love the features and tools here so much more.

I just want to be able to follow my bsky friends and artists if I want to. I really hope the BSKY end gets streamlined, the fact that the masto user base is simultaneously the most knowledgeable and least likely to use the bridge is a cruel comedy

Does AP just not allow for changing usernames for the same account? That seems wild. It couldn’t be using your preferred handle as your entire identifier, could it?

As I’m sure is well known to most people: thrift stores rock.

I used to spend literal hundreds of dollars on paper thin clothes that would last MAYBE a season before falling apart.
At a thrift store I can get cheap, pre-worn high quality clothes that have already stood the test of time. I can SEE and FEEL what a shirt or pants is going to be like after a few years of wear.
This was all ~$100, which would have been maybe a pair of jeans and a shirt from a regular first-purchase store.

My favorites are a hat with a dinosaur (I didn’t know it was for an oil company), a shirt for a cool tourist attraction in Arizona, and TWO leather jackets.
Look at that super 80s brown one with the triangle on the back! It reminds me of the jacket from Transistor a little

Dude landlords are such scum.

My landlord is literally building a hotel in china right now and he can’t be bothered to reply to our texts to try and get a plumber to come look at a leaky pipe.

Imagine being the proprietor of someone’s living space, a “job” you chose, and you have the immense luxury to ignore them because it doesn’t directly affect you.
So what if it water damages the house? You just evict the tenants, do the repair, and re-list the unit for way above what the previous tenants were paying because there’s no longer a capped rent cost!

A vast portion of my stability in life is in control of someone on the other side of the planet who views me as a glorified night guard who pays them to make sure their investment property doesn’t get robbed or taxed too hard.

I think I’m finally catching up on some sleep debt. Usually when I nap during my lunch break, I sleep the entire time and am woken up by my alarm. The past few days I’ve been waking up 15ish minutes before, and today I woke up only 20 minutes in feeling fairly awake and refreshed.

That’s SP rare for me, and definitely a good sign after a few weeks totally strung out, overstimulated, and tired

Trying to look for tips online about how to get over the emotional hump of starting a new notebook. Like, how do I decide what the first recorded item of the notebook is? What is "significant enough" to have the grace and glory of being on that very first page? I have so many notebooks either never started, or started with a few blank pages in between the first page and my first note.

UNFORTUNATELY a lot of the advocates for writing your thoughts down physically in actual notebooks are fucking trad bros who will, in passing, throw in a dog whistle like "and here's a quote I thought significant from Jordan Peterson's 12 Rules for Life".

So the point of BlueSky is to try to simulate a centralized social media platform with decentralized hardware, right? So, like, what's the incentive to hosting your own BlueSky servers? I can see having a single-user repository for your own data, but there's no reason to host anyone else's personal data, right? :confused_dog:​

With Mastodon, the incentive to host a server comes from the fact that servers are smaller, tighter-knit communities, so hosting your server comes with building a community. What's the incentive on BlueSky?
