Imagine the developers of some major software product you use wanted to try some change out in the real world to get feedback and ensure it doesn’t result in an influx of unforeseen issues. They also want to know how it affected genuine real-world usage over time, not just from artificially short-term usage in lab scenarios or self-selected enthusiasts who like to try new things.

What's the least-bad way to handle this, and why?

kwantumkraut,
@kwantumkraut@corteximplant.com avatar

@cassidy How about a slight change to option 2:

  • Implement new functionality / feature with a toggle which is set to “on” by default
  • Have a UI based hint which highlights the new feature and refers to the toggle
  • Measure the percentage of users which revert to the original feature

So all you #nerds, #nerdettes, #geeks, #cyberpunks, #chooms and adjacent peeps: how do you cyber up your life?

Do you have a #cyberdeck for daily use?
Any cool gadgets or #techwear?
Souped up terminal prompt beyond oh-my-zsh?
Any other useful desktop apps which help you trough the day?
All the RGB you can fit into your room?
Preaching the gospel of #Arch Linux?

I kinda feel pretty un-cyber these days and was wondering…

@cazabon I’ve used Safari on iPad.
What’s strange:
From your Etsy shop the website is https://retrofuturetech.ca/kit/computron-3000/ however if visited it’s automatically forwarding to https://retrofuturetech.ca./kit/computron-3000/ (note the . After .ca) which probably causes this.

Magic spell to find lost items:

When searching fails carefully and as accurately as possible make a drawing of the item. Calm yourself as you draw and focus on the form and materials of the item. Label it. You should find it soon after. (IDK why this works but it does— should it fail you have made a poster that will help others to help you find it. )

kwantumkraut,
@kwantumkraut@corteximplant.com avatar

@GustavinoBevilacqua @RedstoneLP2 @futurebird How come by now there’s no “AI camera” which you point at a messy desk and it tells you where a thing is? It works already for toy bricks so it shouldn’t be that hard to adopt.

This year is kind of wild, I've already bought my second cookbook, lol. This time it's by a content creator whom I've only found recently. Can taught himself how to cook and prepares dishes from his homeland. And what can I say, it seems like it's not that hard to cook delicious Turkish food or, in general, dishes from the Middle East :3

A recipe from the book Simply Can. Pictured is a shakshuka recipe.

@revengeday Check out this book if you’re into cooking, very interesting and talks more of the elements than recipes.

Und ja, das ist diese vollkommen überhypte App, bei der nach wie vor Basic-Funktionen von Mastodon fehlen und die monatlich Geld kostet.

Soo, I have a MacMini that's been running fine on macOS Ventura, but something went wrong with the Sonoma update, and now it's only booting to the recovery, asking me to reinstall Sonoma, which then doesn't even start because it needs to download something which is "not possible at the moment"

I can't go back to Ventura (because apparently apple doesn't habe a "something went wrong, let's roll back to before the update" feature?), and I can't go forward to Sonoma, what do I do? :confusedlucy:

kwantumkraut,
@kwantumkraut@corteximplant.com avatar

@Sirs0ri Do you have a second Mac? There should be the possibility to bring the mini into DFU and then use that Mac configuration tool to resinstall. However data is gone I’d assume.

When you’re in recovery mode does it show there’s a network connection? That might be something which could be the cause.

kwantumkraut,
@kwantumkraut@corteximplant.com avatar

@revengeday @Sirs0ri BTW if you have access to the terminal in the recovery mode you can check your /var/log/install.log file for any errors which might help triaging things further.

I have a new idea for better 2FA (two-factor authentication):

Upon logging in, the process will involve solving a captcha with distorted images followed by watching videos. Then, you'll need to solve an image puzzle generated by a poor-quality AI. After that, you'll receive an email that needs to be confirmed. Once confirmed, you'll be required to solve another AI-generated image puzzle and video puzzle for added security. Once completed, you'll receive an SMS with a code that needs to be entered. Finally, you'll need to close 5 pop-up windows, only to be informed that the session has expired.

Let me know what you think about this idea!

Oh, and everything is not programmed to be accessible for people with disabilities!

kwantumkraut,
@kwantumkraut@corteximplant.com avatar

@kaiserkiwi @revengeday You can still use only one email or SMS with the 23 digits but make sure you disable the paste function in the text field and set a time limit.

I have a silly idea and I might need your help. I want to make some modifications to this strange Gameboy-like device I have, including applying a different sticker on the back that has a cyberpunk vibe to it. Unfortunately, I've run out of ideas. Is anyone tech-savvy and willing to give me some tips on what to write in the "lorem ipsum" sections and if there should be anything else on the sticker?

kwantumkraut,
@kwantumkraut@corteximplant.com avatar

@revengeday You could add something about being compliment to some cyber security directive or so as well

kwantumkraut,
@kwantumkraut@corteximplant.com avatar

@revengeday So!
You can also add this text:

This device has not been authorized as required by the rules of the Night City Communications Commission. This device is not, and may not be, offered for sale or lease, or sold or leased, until authorization is obtained.

(The text is shameless stolen from the FCC)

Or maybe that’s a separate sticker?
