Reading about people who had chat GPT parsing errors yesterday/today because prod data contains invalid dates 🤣

hennell,

@heiglandreas @chrastecky My guess is that the training data just has a lot more written about the year 2000 which was a leap that didn't leap, then about normal leap years so it goes with the most common argument.
But it is a bizarre and mad. (As is using AI to parse dates! 🤣)

Just received word that a company I was really hopeful and excited about joining decided not to pursue me as a candidate, after making it to the final round of interviews. The only feedback I got was that there was “concern” over aspects of my technical interviews, but they couldn’t give me any more information than that.

I was really hopeful that I’d have an offer this week, so I could rest and relax over the holidays, but it looks like that’s not going to happen, now. 😭

hennell,

@ramsey That sucks, especially the lack of feedback. Hope the new year brings you more joy.

This is pretty neat. A better way to in ? 🤔

hennell,

@heiglandreas that's a pretty good comparison actually, nothing like the power of actual SQL.
But advanced SQL is easier to get the idea of vs advanced regex, which is often indistinguishable from a cat walking across the keyboard!

"It's fair to argue that this is one of those places. But it's also fair to argue that this is not one of those places."

I laughed at this, but totally agree with it.
It's very much a 'weigh up the pros and cons' for your use case situation.

Trying to move off of the dying bird, any good or php people I should be following here?

If you're using a composer package that doesn't support or updates the correct procedure is fork - make the updates - PR YOUR CHANGES BACK!

You can use a composer alias if you want to use your fork until the PR is merged - don't just make your own package!

https://getcomposer.org/doc/articles/aliases.md

hennell,

@heiglandreas That looks even nicer!
Found a couple of things where people did the work to update but made their own forked package to manage it🙄

Every now and then I re-visit this bit of computing/finance/social history that I was a part of.

In 1995 - before contactless, before chip and PIN - my home town of Swindon in the UK trialed “Mondex”! Electronic cash on a card!

Unlike normal debit cards, which just prove who you are so that you bank can take action for you, Mondex was MONEY!

You actually transferred money to the card and the value was on the chip itself.

hennell,

@ross like lose the card, you've lost the money "on the card"?
