Auf nimmer wiedersehen, META!

Nach meiner Ankündigung Ende April habe ich heute meine Accounts bei und bei zur "Löschung" beantragt.

Schön, dass mir nach gefühlten 4000 Klicks nochmal eine Bedenkzeit von 30 Tagen einberäumt, bis mein Account verschwunden ist. Dass die irgendwas löschen, können sie gerne dem SantaClaus erzählen, wenn sie ihn treffen.

Ein weiterer Schritt weg von - ein weiterer Schritt hin zu mehr Selbstbestimmung.

@itsfoss Proton became too big for me years ago. What sense does it make to move away from the big players only to have all the data stored with one provider again later? For me, the whole Proton concept doesn't really work. Too much advertising, too big. I'd rather choose lots of different small providers for different services (mail, VPN, cloud) and what works, I host myself anyway. "All-in-one" is too centralized for me.

@Mojeek The data collected from an entire society can be used to manipulate opinion. Information can be disseminated in a targeted manner or its dissemination can be specifically curbed. Very few people think about this. And so GAFAM are able to infiltrate our democracy whenever they deem it necessary.

    @itsfoss Since I don't trust GAFAM at all, I use GrapheneOS with an absolutely minimalistic APP selection. See screenshots. This works great, after a short period of getting used to it.

    Ich hoste mit #Yunohost meine eigenen Dienste. Darunter z.b. #invidious #searxng und #xmpp. Nun wollte ich gerne mal nachfragen, wie sicher das ganze ist, wenn ich z.b. Die Suchmaschine und auch XMPP öffentlich ins Netz stellen würde; was muss beachtet werden? Oder sollte ich davon ganz absehen?

    @kris SearXNG: Das löse ich so, dass Google gar nicht abgefragt wird; also Google in der config deaktivieren. Und offene Anmeldung geschlossen lassen. Invidious würde ich nur intern (nicht öffentlich) nutzen.

    So hättest Du keine Bedenken?

    @kris "SSH am besten nur intern zugänglich machen" Yunohost läuft auf einem Cloud (Shared) Server bei Hetzner. Da ist das mit intern wohl nicht so einfach 😀 Oder habe ich dich da falsch verstanden?

    @invidious Thank you very much for your commitment. You could almost think that G***le does this kind of thing on purpose, especially during Easter. YT-DLP also works. And as you have already written: there are also possibilities beyond YT. In real life or online.

    @bijram @reticuleena @viennawriter @sibylle @digitalcourage Danke für die Blumen! Mir ist es halt auch wichtig, dass meine Mitmenschen verstehen, warum ich den Schritt mache. Und vielleicht regt es ja den einen oder die andere zum Nachdenken und vor allem auch zum Nachahmen an. Es muss ja nicht jeder gleich 100% gehen. Nur schon die Suchmaschine wechseln, oder eben zu Mastodon kommen. Jeder Schritt zählt 😉

    Norway, Gudvangen last fall in October. The Nærøyfjord is a side arm of the Sognefjord and is approx. 20 km long. Together with the Geirangerfjord, the Nærøyfjord was added to the UNESCO World Heritage List on July 14, 2005. The landscape there is simply breathtaking and highly recommended.

    @KissAnne That's exactly what we do here in the Swiss mountains. As soon as the sun has enough power to melt the snow, we break up the snow cover so that it melts faster. So there are obviously similarities between Finland and Switzerland 😀

    Für die #Android Custom-ROM-Serie prüfe ich gerade #GrapheneOS. Ich kann nur sagen: Wer das derzeit sicherste und datenschutzfreundlichste Android-System sucht, kommt an GrapheneOS nicht vorbei. Und das ist nicht übertrieben. Herausragende Arbeit von @GrapheneOS und insbesondere @DanielMicay. 🧙‍♂️

    @kuketzblog @GrapheneOS @DanielMicay ich hätte dazu eine Frage: macht es Sinn, für die Verwendung von Google Apps und solche, die davon abhängen (zb. Maps, Whatsapp etc. brauche die fürs Geschäft) ein separates Benutzerkonto anzulegen; so dass diese "Google-Aktivitäten" quasi von der privaten Nutzung komplett getrennt sind? Oder wie siehst Du das?

    @kubikpixel @feedle So erobern wir uns Schritt für Schritt das Netz zurück. Internet für Menschen mit Köpfchen und nicht Fast-Food für die abgestumpfte Masse. Dieses ganze KI Geschrei geht mir sowas von auf den Senkel und macht auf längere Sicht die ganze Gesellschaft kaputt.
