I often have to kind of laugh at the fact that I am living proof you can’t indoctrinate gender or sexuality. I was raised in an extremely religious environment. Went to church every Sunday. Bible study every Wednesday. Went to Christian schools from 1st-10th grade. Vacation Bible school. My adopted father was in Promise Keeper’s. Consumed Focus on The Family content. I wasn’t allowed to listen to secular music. Deep in purity culture. All of it.

Fairly lukewarm take: I hate phrases like “identify as”, “preferred pronouns”, and shit like “living your truth”. It comes off as super condescending and patronizing. You would never be like, “Jane got married last week. She identifies as Mrs. Surname now, she’s so brave for living her truth”

I’ve been thinking a lot lately about the Tasks app and that I want to really revisit some of the recurring tasks that I need help with being consistent about. I want to introduce more gamification features like streaks and maybe some kind of “daily quests” and I want to include tasks with smarter built in schedules. Things like watering plants and housework where a computer can do a better job keeping tracking of when these should be done and reminding me when I’m more likely to do them

Am I imagining this, or did there used to be a Linux distro that let you install it right from Windows. I’m not talking about using Rufus, etc, to burn an ISO to USB in Windows. IIRC this distro actually had an installer you could use in Windows, then reboot into your shiny new Linux install.

Last night after feeling frustrated about the reinvention of cable I loaded up the ol’ pirate ship and downloaded a season of perfectly legal Blender open movies. Popped them into my “Videos” folder, turned on media sharing with a single switch in System Settings on elementary OS, and then became my own streaming service with VLC on my Apple TV. I didn’t have to install or tweak anything. No terminal. No plugins. It all just works out of the box. Year of the Linux desktop etc
