There's some kind of saw chord synth thing I'm trying to recreate. It comes from LMFAO's Party Rock, Giga's Bring it on, and probably quite a few dubstep songs. Try as I may, I simply cannot figure out how to do it. I'm attaching a sample of the saw chord from Bring it on to this post. If anyone can tell me how to make this sound, I'd appreciate it.

question. I'd like to recommend this to developers so they can make their projects more . I noticed there's no documentation. Is it easy enough to learn without the need for documentation? If not, I'm hesitant to recommend something that I know developers are going to struggle with. It's tough enough asking them to make their apps accessible when they don't know much about us, let alone asking them to learn a new library with no docs.

dangero,

@matt @jcsteh The program in question is coded in C#, and there is no accessibility whatsoever. You can move to different icons with NVDA object navigation, some of which have labels, but you can't interact with any of them. There are also very few keyboard shortcuts in the program. Would you say Access Kit is in a good enough state where I could recommend it to the developer and he could implement it, or are we not at that point yet?

dangero,

@matt @jcsteh For sure! If we’re going to do the remote method, it'll be a few hours until I can get back to my machine.

An email from a store I don't shop at.

I click here to unsubscribe.

The result is not that store's URL advising they will stop…

but rather a long fillable form from some who the fuck knows third party ad company.

I could uncheck a box to stop receiving that type of email…

but there was no option to “confirm" or "submit”; I had to “save profile.”

No. Fucking no.

dangero,

@datajake1999 @Cassandra I know that feeling. My Mother used to work at a casino, and because of my relation to her, a hotel that was associated to the casino started sending me emails every day multiple times a day to try and get me to book their service. There was no unsubscribe link at all, so I called the phone number they had listed in the email to ask them to unsubscribe me. They informed me that was not an option, implying they would continue to send me emails whether I liked it or not.

Did you know in #Windows 11 you can press WIN + CTRL + V to open a volume mixer? 👀

dangero,

@menelion @JenMsft Not for me.

I used to not understand why people hated quote posting so much. Now I do. The way it's implemented in #Mastodon is terrible. I don't hate quote posting as a concept, but there are better ways of implementing it, and this is not it.

People have been able to add multiple audio tracks for and audio descriptions in videos since the founding of the Matroska format in 2002. Audio tracks have existed on DVDs since the 1990s. It has taken this long for to start adding this standard feature, and not everyone is allowed to use it. It's been a year since this feature was made semi-publicly available, and still, only larger, more well-known creators can use it. Just something to think about.

Music/audio friends, must pass on this find: the best cheap headphones I've ever seen. $12, with coupon. Folding over-ear style, Bluetooth 5.3 or wired, 80 hour battery with USB-C charging, 3 EQ presets, physical media controls, spoken prompts, and multipoint pairing. Did I mention they're $12? They sound better than you'd ever dream $12 could sound. There is a mic. It isn't great. But $12! https://a.co/d/7v8xMOx

dangero,

@x0 @bryansmart Took me a second to understand what you were saying. I know now that you said "ˈpass ˈon" as in passing along info, but I heard "ˈpass on" meaning disregarding something.

dangero, to OpenAI

Gotta love how #OpenAI deems that I'm not allowed to know what an image from a TV show looks like because it depicts violence and death. Imagine if I were sighted, but a company had the right to block me and the rest of the world from being able to see certain things because it contained graphic content. That should be my choice, not theirs. This is one reason we shouldn't support game-changing technology being controlled and maintained by corporations like this IMO. #Blind #Accessibility

dangero,

@LavenderPawprints @FreakyFwoof I haven't watched it either LOL.

I just found out that you can type a command into Windows 11's Powershell in admin mode to get rid of the new Notepad altogether and bring the old one back. The command is "Get-AppxPackage -name microsoft.WindowsNotepad|Remove-AppxPackage -AllUsers" without the quotes. Some people were curious about that, mainly myself and @FreakyFwoof, so here you go. Microsoft really is a fantastic company, aren't they? /S

dangero,

@jamminjerry @FreakyFwoof So basically, just go to your run dialogue and type powershell, then press Ctrl + Shift + Enter to run in admin mode.

Apologies to everyone who was following me on TikTok for the whole me disappearing from your list thing. Trust me, it wasn’t my choice. I tried getting sided assistance with the appeal and they refused it because it took two extra minutes for someone to read me the information off of my cash app card because they don’t take Discover, considering literally every other appeal method required me to take pictures while simultaneously holding my ID card in one hand and a piece of paper in the other, and also somehow the phone, there just wasn’t anything else I could’ve done, and now they’ve taken away my account and all of my stuff with it. I couldn’t even download my data. That makes me sad because I just lost a couple of very important videos I made

dangero,

@evilcookies98 @jaybird110127 They do allow you to download individual videos from TikTok, but on iOS at least, all the buttons in the share window are unlabeled. You kind of just have to tap on every button in the window until you find the right one, then memorize it or use custom labels. As for Android which is now my main OS, I have no idea, because I never installed TikTok on it. I want to delete my account, but I can't, because it seems there's no accessible way to do it.

since people like #hashtags so much, i am going to tell you that i am working on an $Avantgarde $orchestral track, highly inspired by #stravinsky

@spacepup Hey. Just wanted to let you know you accidently put dollar signs ($) instead of number signs (#) for the first 2 hashtags.

I'm working on a fanfic. Initially I wanted to get permission to make it, because I saw nothing in the fan content IP guidelines about fanfics, and I wanted to make sure it was OK. I talked to a friend about it, and he said that they're so common that I probably didn't have to ask and that I worry about these sorts of things way too much. Plus, I'm sure that fanfics are so obviously fan content that it wasn't stated in the IP guidelines, so I think it's OK. So, with that being said...

dangero,

Any fans on here wanna work on a with me? I need someone who's familiar with the characters and what they look like. I also need them to be familiar with or something similar with footnote and track change support and a means of sharing the document between each other. I don't need a masters degree English writer, but I do need someone with some writing experience. This is a non-cannon based on the Doki Doki Salvation mod.

Hi. It’s been a bit hard to post because there’s a lot of stuff going on at the moment. Tl;dr: I don’t have access to a #Windows computer for the next 2 weeks or so. Unless someone can suggest a way for me to get #NVDA working fully through #Wine on #Linux Mint or there’s a Linux version of #Vocaloid, I probably won’t be able to fulfill any Vocaloid-related obligations until I can bring my Windows computer back up.

People should reject 'a11y' not because it's an ironic abbreviation but because it represents creating a tech friendly accessibility movement which comes with the rest of techs baggage.

Wider disabled politics is much more ambitious we need to avoid making tech only accessibility spaces when technologist are not the forefront of disabled thinking.

dangero,

@nickcolley I think web accessibility should be worked on by disabled people, political affiliation not withstanding. Why does being involved in politics have to be a requirement? For one thing, accessibility is a bipartisan issue. For another, Who cares where somebody is on the political spectrum? Being capitalist does not affect your ability to properly code in HTML or PHP.

dangero,

@nickcolley As a blind person myself, to be honest with you, I think that's absolutely absurd. Don't get me wrong; I'm not a huge fan of the things the right say or do a lot of the time, but they care just as much about accessibility as the left do. Hell, I'm friends with some right-leaning blind people. I see no good reason we should have to tie petty mainstream politics into the accessibility cause. It's completely unnecessary and will only result in sighted people taking us less seriously.

dangero,

@nickcolley I don't get my information from history; I get my information from experience based on interacting with the people around me. It may very well be that historically, rights for disabled people are fought for by left leaning people. However, that's not evidence enough to me to prove definitively that the right don't care about us and our needs.

dangero,

@nickcolley The way I see it, all politicians are out to screw us over on both sides. I see so much inn fighting between the two affiliations that I've decided I don't want to be involved in politics at all. I don't trust groups. That's why I fight on my own for what I believe in.

dangero,

@nickcolley What I do know is that, if accessibility isn't a bipartisan issue now, I believe it should be. This is something that people on the right and the left should care deeply about IMO. I've always avoided being informed, because I thought being informed makes people arrogant and condescending. I suppose if I want to be a viable advocate though, I should get past that. I want accessibility to become bipartisan, because that would mean more people will be on board with it.

@Mayana @ifixcoinops I understand A11Y, I18N, and L10N just fine. There's nothing wrong with using those abbreviations, especially on platforms where you only have so many characters to work with. I think the only reason people don't like them is because it's a new way of saying the same thing, and most people object to even the slightest change because human nature.

Alright, listen up. I see a lot of discussion getting way too heated because you've got people with perfect English on one side, and people just struggling to get themselves understood in a language they don't speak well on the other, and then both sides just don't get what the other is saying and then things explode. I've seen this so, so many times. And honestly all this tells me is that it's really, really easy for English speaking people to think that since we have a lot of good English speakers on the internet, or that that is the bubble they always find themselves in, that everybody does. And this is so very much not the case and y'all should be careful. You're making enemies you don't necessarily have to make just because you don't consider that the person on the other side can't express themselves clearly and is just doing the best they can.

    dangero,

@talon I'm learning a second language, so I can sympathize with you wholeheartedly. And yes, English is my native language, but I get words wrong all the time myself. English is a hard language to grasp, some times even for a native speaker. I can't imagine having to learn it, and especially if you're trying to learn it in America. Take it from an American; a lot of people here are sheltered to the US and think that those who can't speak English are stupid. Part of why I hate American culture.
