Installed the docker of IceShrimp.NET, which isn't even in beta yet. I have a few installs under my belt now (Mastodon, Bonfire, GoToSocial, etc.) so I know the basic drill, but this was still a pretty easy install.

In the branch I used, there's no front end yet. Phanpy, Elk and Enafore handled at least the basic posting requests so the API is solid.

So cool to see dotnet code in the fediverse! Follow me @box464 :)

Have you ever watched a movie that had a moment that made no sense and it just went on like it didn't happen?

"It Follows", a horror film from a few years back had this - a random scene where some teenagers are hanging out watching TV when one pulls out a plastic seashell, flips it open, and it's some kind of e-reader / telephone with circular screens?

There's no further mention of it in the movie.

WTF. I still think about it to this day!

Today I had the opportunity to see a visitor far from home, a tiny snow bunting from the arctic, well out of range in Seattle.

It was completely unafraid of people; I wonder if it had even seen humans before.

An absolutely charming bird full of life and character. I fell in love at once.

At work, I've been moving some of our simpler static sites to Netlify or GitHub Pages and it seems to work fine.

Saving us some money from hosting as well. These sites get very minimal traffic or internal staff only, which I have protected.

Am I missing something here - there's got to be a catch. 👀

@SwiftOnSecurity I think we can all agree on common sense lightsaber safety regulations like a mandatory waiting period on constructing a new lightsaber and closing the "given to me by a mentor/elder character" loophole.

Idea for hobbyist devs that build fun little apps on the side but don't really need or want to ask for tips.

A "Good Deeds" bank where you ask people to complete a good deed in the name of your app - give an extra tip to a waiter; help someone with their groceries; make a donation to their favorite charity; anything! - and then communicate that good deed back to the app owner (publicly or privately).

I know this would make me feel good. Does it exist already? Probably.

How horrified would you be if your boss offered to “do some coding”?

Some of my team is taking some well deserved time off, so I offered to help out with some of the coding tasks to take up the slack.

It felt good to take off the director hat and dust off my .NET / Visual Studio skills. I promise I didn’t do any damage…at least not yet.

I've been pondering lately about how a drive to "scale" or have a large impact in number of people reached (socially or technically) can at times actually reduce how meaningful that impact is. Paradoxically, reaching more folks can reduce impact.

    I made the move to the Fediverse in Nov 22 like so many others. I’ve tried a LOT of platforms. Like…a LOT.

    It’s time to start consolidating and closing accounts.

    But, before I do, thinking of creating video and blog walk throughs of each one. Helpful? Not all are Fedi, but many are.
