"ADHD creates impulse control issues and, consequently, advertising takes advantage of a disability. Ergo, ad blockers are assistive devices and interfering with their operation for commercial gain constitutes a willful violation of the ADA."
The Thunderbird story is an epic of countless individual stories, coming together to make something bigger than themselves. We're sharing those stories in a new series, and our first spotlight is on one of our amazing Bugzilla volunteers.
Arthur helps new volunteers document issues, as well as testing bug fixes. Read more at the blog, and find out how to share (or start!) your own Thunderbird story!
@thunderbird I’m holding off beta testing until the Exchange changes are rolled in. I’m very interested to know if we can survive without TbSync, in particular. We are Graoh API users but it might still be somewhat useful for now.
I‘m rewatching #TheBigBangTheory, now 2 years after my #autism diagnosis. I dont know what people dislike about this show. Sheldon makes me feel very validated. his friends making fun of him both shows problems of modern society and boundaries we sometimes dont see (like speaking the truth when someone is already down).
@haui#BigBangTheory and #YoungSheldon feel to me like early efforts to put #LGBTQ characters in front of broader audiences. Coded and not discussed. Stereotypical, with a while male focus.
I’m glad they added a similar female character, but wasn’t impressed that only the two #neurodifferent coded characters were permitted to have a relationship. #LoveOnTheSpectrum does the same.
So I’m glad we’re more visible. I just wish it was more authentic.
@haui Well, Young Sheldon is just about Sheldon as a child, up until he started at Cal Tech. It’s not a bad show. But from an ND perspective the effort falls short.
@ashleyspencer And then you seek help from a therapist who tells you you’re perfectly functional or too old to need help. Or try breathing exercises. 🙄
@firestarter31 Bleh. Most meetings could just be email or slacked. Start blocking time in your calendar, so you can be productive. Then you don’t need to “refuse” meetings as much as claim you gave conflicts. Gosh I’m so not sorry..! 🤣
My current world order, where my morning and overnight schedule has largely shifted to accommodate a crazy early start to get kiddo ready for alternate school pickup, has resulted in my not being up as late at night as I used to be.
What I’ve realized is this seriously impacts my productivity. I’m way more productive at quiet times in mg day, and now my working time is constrained to when others are around. This sucks.
I’m very glad this alternate placement has worked for my son, and is serving to help him prepare to transition back to regular school site. But to say I’m eager for the transition to occur is an understatement. I will be very glad to be back in a position where I can be more productive again and try and focus on more self-care.
It’s easy to forget the changes we make to help our kids sometimes hurt us.
@kristoff I keep hearing that but if it’s one thing techbros like it’s more. More data. More revenue. More banning of apps doing the same thing they are. More power.
Given the opportunity they totally want a super-app. They just want it, and all those users’ data and dollars, to be theirs.
In case you're not following our blog (gasp!), our Rust developers have the technical details on how we're using the language to bring in native Exchange support in the latest post.
So if you're a fan of all things Rust and email protocols, and you want to know what we've done so far and what's coming next, give it a read - and come to our office hours all about Rust and Exchange tomorrow at 16:00 UTC!
@thunderbird My biggest curiosity isn’t as much about Rust as whether the Graph API is going to be universally supported this round. That’s bigger measure of overall Exchange compatibility these days, especially for O365.
When it comes to ST: Discovery I am very much in the mindset of "Well, I've come this far..."
Early on I defended it, sure it was different, not the Trek we were used to, but that was fine.
I started losing patience from Season 2. The stakes were too big, the solutions to small, and the characters too stubborn in their utter refusal to have an arc involving any kind of development beyond who can produce the greatest litreage of tears. 1/3
@pupether I’m yet to start this final season of #StarTrekDiscovery but the range of negative feeling is interesting. In general, my feeling has been that it’s very pretty but hasn’t quite figured out what story it’s telling our what it wants to be when it grows up. #StarTrekPicard had the same issue, IMO.
Of the recent offerings, #StarTrekPtodigy has actually been my favorite.
@garak I’ve experienced earthquakes on both coasts. They’re quite uncommon in New England area. I hear this one was centered in New Jersey. When I lived in upstate New York, the couple we had were from Canada! Heh
