Don't save good things for a mythical future "special occasion" that may never come. Don't leave pretty journals blank for fear of ruining them with your words. Don't leave the nice wine on the rack to get corked.
Use the good things to make today the special occasion. When they come to clear your house when you're dead, let them find full journals and empty bottles. Not the other way around.
(The bottles can be from fancy olive oil or something if booze isn't your thing. ๐)
An underrated approach to getting feedback on your podcast is to do a Listener Survey.
Create a survey, and link to it in your podcast's show notes. Mention during the audio portion of the show, and emphasize that you want honest feedback from listeners so you can make the show better.
@chrisjrn Thanks. Thatโs not obvious that they are not against policy. N95 recommended, then a list of unacceptable alternatives. I guess I assumed surgical fell into the unacceptable alternatives. Iโm glad I was wrong. Iโd like to talk about the outer points out of band. BTW, Iโm not in a band. ;)
Anyone know of a good way to test that a Python function raises an expected exception when there's no internet connection? @brianokken@mkennedy@leahawasser@ucodery
@hugovk@mahmoud I think more of variations of random.
SemVer and CalVer are well-ish defined
Everything else that looks like either but doesnโt behave right is RandVer.
Most projects, including the current Python versioning, fall into RandVer variations.
You know that Parks and Rec episode where thereโs an Easter egg hunt and the kids canโt find any eggs, because there arenโt any.
For #PyConUS this year, #PyCon is the park, and Iโm one of the eggs.
Enjoy PyCon and talk with lots of people, but donโt look for me. :)
Almost all bday party invites for my 4 year old specify "No gifts please" or "No gifts necessary" - and I totally get why, I added it to hers as well. Are we moving towards a society that's not so into gifting? Or is this only a thing at certain income levels?
@pamelafox I would have loved that. My kids are past the BDay party phase. But when they were younger, tons of kids expected gifts for attending the party. We had small prizes for games, but I was mortally opposed to party favor gifts.
I like the idea of โplease no giftsโ.
