This has been a really weird thing to experience. There are folks in the fledgling D4 community that are mad as hell at the concept of having to level new characters to progress the battle pass or experience any of the seasonal content. That is just part and parcel of how ARPGs generally work.

This is also me being completely out of touch as a pretty dedicated ARPG player over the years, of not realizing there were some folks going into D4 not understanding that :(

Whelp... I guess I forgot about Ahsoka. I checked over lunch only to see it was releasing at 8pm my time. By that late in the evening I was already fully engaged with POE. I guess I will be watching this show habitually a day behind.

I gotta admit some of the melancholy over the last few days has been due to my birthday creeping up on me. It was always such a wild ride over on Twitter that I was not sure how it would feel here.

I gotta say today has proven to me more than anything else over the last year... that the Fediverse is my home now. Yall are my extended family now.

Every so often a band just pops into my mind.

Today it was INXS, so right now I am listening to their albums. I mean I had most of them ripped to my Plex server already so it was easy enough.

BlueSky so far... is pretty much just like early Twitter. It is immediately recognizable as Twitter and I have a ton of familiar faces there.

The problem is... it doesn't feel homey. I think maybe something has changed since last year when I moved her full-time. Maybe I have changed.

I have no clue how to quantify what I even mean. Like I don't dislike BSky. I think it is a perfectly cromulent social network, and I even with their concept of feeds would get adopted here.

I do not fully understand the folks who are disappointed in #Starfield or even less so the folks who are angry about the game.

Like.. was this their first Bethesda title? Starfield is very much a Bethesda game and should have probably set your expectations to that.

I like that style of game and as such I like Starfield. The game however has all of the traditional jank that Bethesda games always do and honestly, most open-world games do. I can live with that.

So reminiscing about Argent Dawn... made me think about something. I am sorta shocked that something like this does not already exist but...

Ancestry.com but for Video Games. You would create a profile, add games you played, then add characters or organizations you were part of in those games... and choose which you would allow matches on or not.

My friends have complained about my luck in video games for a while now. They refer to it as "Bel Luck" and talk about how they wish they had some of that while farming for something.

I've shrugged it off for years... but maybe they are right.

I just popped into #Diablo4 for a quick world boss kill and got two uniques off Ashava not counting the level 80 cache that I can't open yet.

Sadly I can't afford to use either because I need the legendary traits in those slots already.

If I could change one thing about the default Mastodon advanced web interface, it would be to have whatever the modal action that you are taking... search, clicking on a profile, etc... pop over the first column instead of going out into the hinterlands of the last column.

You basically get fucked for having a bunch of pinned columns.

I think I have finally come to a point where I grok my feelings on Blue Sky. Sure I would love everyone to adopt the fediverse as their new home like I did, but I sort of realize that this place is not going to be what everyone wants.

Blue Sky is "aggressively fine" and sorta feels like a minimum viable product. It also doesn't really feel like home, but at the same time doesn't feel offensive. I don't mind visiting to see the folks who didn't bond with this world.

I finally talked myself into buying Allan Wake II... but god do I hate buying anything from EGS. While it is better than Origin or Uplay... it is still a crap storefront.

It is just the little things. Like I went to install the game, and changed drives... and it didn't update the size/space available estimates. EGS is a minimum viable product and doesn't really seem to be improving.
