@mkennedy@brianokken But why would they kick you? The developers of AltSrore have their app, Delta, and they have it on both AltStore and App Store. They didn't get kicked out. Why do you think they would kick you out?
@mkennedy@brianokken Aaah, you mean if you publish it to AltStore, then you can't have your app on the EU App Store. Is it really a thing? I didn't know. But yeah, then better be safe.
@mkennedy@brianokken Yeah, Apple overcomplicated everything with the laws and rules so that no one would want to use other stores. I'm also getting confused.
@altstore Amazing news! However it feels like there might be some back and forth between you and them during the review process. Like they will give you feedback, and you have to fix it, submit again, review again, etc. Let's hope it won't be super painful. I've heard some people really struggled when submitting an app to App Store, and here they will be reviewing an app store itself! Depends on how strict they are.
And on MacOS, yeah, I also checked, and I had version 5.6.0. But the brew team says the malware was only for deb and rpm packages, so doesn't affect Mac: https://github.com/orgs/Homebrew/discussions/5243
@brianokken@mkennedy I still highly recommend updating xz on mac (or it's more correct to say downgrading, because if you update, brew will automatically downgrade it to safer version). I'm just posting this for those who might freak out that they were infected on Mac. Calm down. It might not be all that bad.
Thanks to the kid being so late, though (one day shy of 42 weeks), I have most of a PEP written and gotten feedback from select people already.
And before anyone asks, I don't plan to share photos, name, or gender publicly; I don't want to dictate their online presence. But I do suspect they will eventually attend a conf w/ us, so you can ask them yourself 😉
@altstore So it's happening? But you still need to prepare some stuff? Can you give more info, or is it not possible at the moment? Thanks for this update anyway!
I got my new YouTube / streaming studio set up (may involve a bit of green screen but still fun). What do you all think? Cool? Or do you prefer the plain gray background?
Be aware that I’m updating my Terms & Conditions for 2024.
Terms: nothing specific yet, but I’m trying to expand my vocabulary and may use new terms this year.
Conditions: I didn’t go to the beach much in 2023. For 2024, I plan on taking advantage of sunny conditions and doing more day trips to the beach. And enjoying the garden more as weather permits.
@talkpython@crazy4pi314@tonybaloney@ericsnowcurrently@mkennedy Subinterpreters? I remember I listened to that first episode of Talk Python talking about adding subinterpreters. That was back when I was in school. Now I'm working at my second job. It really takes a lot of time.
Have I mentioned lately how much I love pytest --stepwise?
I’m making a sweeping refactor in a large test suite and “stepwise” makes it so much easier to fix the parts where I mucked up the refactor.
