After consistently driving and using a car in an American city for about a month now, I think I'm slowly being converted into a vehement supporter of walkable and bikeable cities.

I love my car and cars as an invention but driving them is a massive pain during rush hour.

Since Bluesky is open for registration now by anyone, I'm curious: how does it compare to the Fediverse in terms of general culture (popular topics, types of people there, etc).

Personally, I don't have any plans on making an account there at the moment (not because I have any negative feelings towards it, I just don't feel a need to), but I do wonder about this from people who used it.

Noticing a trend in some FOSS communities, where some are opposing the growth of these platforms (e.g. Linux, the fediverse, etc.).

If it isn't growing, it's in the process of fading away.

By holding it down out of fear for it changing and becoming mainstream, we are actively hindering it and contributing to enshittification.

Y'know I love Tesla cars but I'm beginning to feel like recalls are becoming an everyday thing. Its a bit ironic given that they are electric and don't have nearly as many moving parts.

Just finished watching Edgerunners.

I had been putting it off for a long time - didn't realize what I was missing out on.

One of the best I've watched in years. I love that they didn't drag it out. Told a complete story and ended it.

Now to figure out what to pick up next...

@jon I initially found it shocking how everything came to a head so quick in the last episodes. It didn't feel rushed though, as the timeskip in the middle of the story really helped out.

After completing the show, I really liked it overall. It was a such a unique ending to a show that I have never seen in any other storyline, especially among anime. A good balance between not being too cliché or too depressing.

I want to shoutout all the #discord users buying up absolutely everything in the shop, causing more and more of these plans to keep existing.

If they didn't work, discord wouldn't bloat their app so badly.

I see many people decry them yet more than half of them end up using them. Except I know you must buy these stupid profile decorations that blocks you from reading anything for 3 seconds, and when it does stop it repeats on loop. Who the hell thought that was an idea to have, visual garbage blocking all text.

@Khosumi These things are such a scam, but they are so overpriced that the small amount of people actually buying them is enough to make a profit.

Its totally fine for people who want them, by all means enjoy. However, I wish there was a way to turn them all off. Discord is going a little nuts with the Microsoft Edge-level Nitro advertising and bloat.

Once again I am reminded that I am a very amateur programmer.

TIL that I should commit changes frequently. Helps with diagnosing issues because looking through one giant commit of code for a single bug can take a century. All this time I've been doing massive commits of 30-50 lines. Legitimately surprised I've gotten this far without having many issues from this bad habit.

I'd just like to interject for a moment. What you're referring to as Mastodon, is in fact, a system of platforms with ActivityPub support, or as I and many others have taken to calling it, the Fediverse. Mastodon is not an entire social media platform by itself, but rather another free component of a system of federated social media platforms made useful by the many instances within this federation, ActivityPub integration, and users creating conversation within it.
