I was just looking to see if anyone else is having huge issues with Quicksilver (app launcher and more) on MacOS, and as a result of my searches have been struck by a huge urge to build a gaming machine using a G4 quicksilver case as the base. 😂
They were just so nice looking.

@lackattack That base case design was phenomenal. One of my friends had 10 3.5” drives in his blue model (we were casually competing, he won 😂)
They were especially great after the 8500 (aka “the bloodletter”) case designs.
I see that my local guy who refurbishes and sells old Max actually has a Quicksilver in stock, but it’s not the one with the cool vents in front.
OTOH he sells functioning machines. If all I want is a case I bet he has one.

Also the fact that I could carry 4 of them (2 in each hand, using the handles) was just hilarious.

Contrast that with the later Intel Mac Pros where I said they should just fukkin’ sharpen the “handles” to get across that they were handles almost in name only.

@flargh OTOH, at least they make good shelves for drinks and other equipment.

One of my worst quirks is that I forget about holidays ALL the time.
I’ve literally shown up at work at previous jobs on a holiday and wondered where everyone was.
Today the owner of one of my clients posted on slack that Friday is a half day to give everyone an extra long weekend and that was how I “remembered” this weekend is Memorial Day. 😂

Yesterday i replaced a SSD in one of my home servers. The amount of dust was terrible. A very thin and consistent layer of dust in all the insides. What tips can you share to attenuate dust inside our boxes?

@fwaggle @Prozak Honestly if all you’re getting is a thin consistent layer, you’re doing great!
All you can do is filter more which just means the dust inside will be finer.
I’ve literally been attacked by roaming gangs of dust bunnies from servers.

    Han was right, I'm not for nihilism, so don't bother telling me the odds. Even if there were one tenth of one percent chance of success, I'd still be fighting that fight because the other option is slavery and death. Our odds are actually quite a bit better than that, but I have no patience for the "it's too late, might as well go and eat worms" folks. They sizing you up for a coffin they're gonna make you pay them for all the same, despite your hip ironic detachment.

    @riley @SallyStrange Yep. I’ve been talking to my clients for years about this, almost every invention that has been touted as a “labor saving“ device has simply accelerated the speed of which people expect things to be done.

    @ernie I dunno how popular it is, but it’s “easy” and because of the Instagram link they have a huge density of users.
    On the other hand the interface is garbage, the interactions are routinely musk Twitter/FB level terrible.
    Gripping hand, I’m glad I can follow folks on there from here, but otherwise I share your bemusement.

    There are only ~40 million Black people in the US. Population similar to Lagos state in Nigeria (the tiny red part).

    There are ~250 million US white folk (~220 non-Hispanic white + ~30 million Hispanic white).

    So Biden's "missing" 10% of Black men, is fewer than 2 million. Or less than 1% of white US population.🤡

    White voters don't face the massive systemic voter suppression that Black voters do. So increasing white dem turnout is much easier.

    So if your boy doesn't win, blame yourselves.

    @mekkaokereke @Pineywoozle I had someone unfollow & block me just cos I said “stop harassing people for saying they’re not gonna vote” even though I clearly stated that I believed in voting, was going to vote, and I think it’s a good idea to vote.
    And I get a “nope, unfollowed and blocked” and it wasn’t some incel.
