I still think the most under-reported, most holy shit tech story of the last 5+ years is how good e-bikes have gotten and how much more affordable a decent e-bike has become.

E-cars and trucks are a nice change but mostly meh. E-bikes, tho? They are magic.

They deserve subsidies and way more press attention.

@ryansingel But are e-bikes trips replacing car trips? Or public transpo trips? That needs to be studied. If the latter, they are a net loss for the environment, and subsidies would be a wealth transfer upward.

All this research about (lack of) availability of cross border rail tickets makes me annoyed

DB Navigator is an excellent route planner

Imagine adding easy booking - even for trains outside Germany! - to that. It'd be amazing

But DB being paranoid about Flix, ÖBB paranoid about Westbahn, SNCF paranoid about everyone... means no state owned railway will make a transformative, EU-wide app

The only players that can and will are hence going to be private

@jon I have had the same experience. Thalys, Eurostar, DB, NS, Swiss Rail...it all blows. My (completely uneducated) guess is that they all use cell towers to get the signal that their WiFi relays and the train is moving too fast to complete the handoffs successfully (I've had problems with phone calls on trains, too), or they use satellites and it's the same problem.
