    I am Pākehā, tauiwi, tangata te tiriti. My ancestors come from Scotland and England and I am privileged to now call Aotearoa my home. Tangata whenua welcomed me when I applied for residency here, and I am here only on my merits. It is not my land, nor will it ever be.

    I did not vote for, nor do I support, our current government’s apparent aim to destroy all the progress that has been made to honour Māori and te tiriti. I find their lack of respect abhorrent.

    A friend of a friend, who is blind, got placed in “accessible” accommodation recently where all the amenities (washing machine, microwave, intercom etc.) are touchscreen, if ever you wonder how fucking ignorant non-disabled people can be.

    Although they did also say the first clue that they might not be the sort of tenant wanted was that the online application form wasn’t compatible with their screen reader, so someone else had to fill it in for them.

    If I were sceptical I would assume this sort of thing is so councils can get discretionary discounts for building accessible housing and then claim they didn’t manage to get enough disabled tenants, thus rent out the rest of the spaces to able-bodied tenants at higher rents. /s

    I got to show my vampire dentures to my denture tech today. He gave me some super helpful feedback and was pretty impressed with the results. He’s also given me the impression casts he made, so I have an excellent mould to use.

    I feel like version 2 will be even better and I’m excited to give them another go. 😁

    #Crafting help: I’m dying thermoplastic / polymorph beads with food colouring so it’s mouth-safe, but obviously it’s all over my hands 😂 I can’t wear gloves as the warm plastic sticks… any ideas to stop my hands looking like Lady Macbeth’s?

    @andycarolan yeah I think the plastic itself is too goo-ey to not stick. Fondant is a bit more forgiving. I did try with gloves first and it was just an absolute nightmare 😂
