For those of you who are somehow not aware, Dune absolutely includes a White Savior narrative and also deliberately paints it as horrible.

The follow-ups, Children of Dune and Dune Messiah, turn the "No, seriously, it's shit" volume up to the level of "I will fuck these characters over SO HARD to prove it."

God Emperor is, on the other hand, "Fine, you want a Perfect Savior Of All? Let's get fucking grotesque up in here. Also I wanna do some weird monologues, so hey."

@lizmonster I think some people figure that twitter hemorrhaging money endlessly will cause Musk to turn overseeing or stewardship to someone else, or will sell it, and then we will get status quo ante.
