Goodyear Blimp Columbia N4A at McNary Field in Salem, Oregon September 1978.

I shot this on Eastmancolor 5247 film, which faded badly over the decades. But modern color restoration software made it look good as new with just a few clicks. I'm quite pleased with the result, which is now part of my online gallery.

In my youth I spent lot of time visiting airports and photographing the things that came and went. I found this DC-8 cargo plane in Medford, Oregon in July 1979. Scanned from a Kodachrome original.

One of my favorite night images of Amtrak's Coast Starlight at Klamath Falls. This is a service stop for the train, so it lingers for about 30 minutes, long enough to get out and stretch your legs and make a few photographs.

To recap…as of today:

IDF bombs have killed 10,000 Palestinian civilians in 30 days—which is more than the number of Ukrainian civilians killed by Russian bombing in 600+ days. Ukraine’s population is 22X Gaza’s population.

IDF dropped as many bombs on Gaza in 30 days as USA dropped on Afghanistan in 12 months. Afghanistan is 1788X larger than Gaza.

@QasimRashid Hamas had to have known that Israel would retaliate in full force after their massive terror attack on innocent Israelis. Yet Hamas went ahead with it anyway. I grieve for the innocent Palestinians who are caught in the middle of this, but I don't blame Israel for doing whatever is necessary to put an end to Hamas terrorism once and for all. Hamas knowingly brought this on their own people, so those innocent Palestinian lives lost are entirely Hamas's responsibility, not Israel's

@QasimRashid MAGA types are so busy with the "shall not be infringed" part of the 2nd Amendment that they overlook the stated objective of the 2nd Amendment: "the security of a free state." Given the level of gun violence in this country, it is clear that the 2nd Amendment has failed to achieve its stated objective., and we need to find better ways to maintain security than unfettered access to weaponry.

@flexghost Gun advocates like to hide behind the 2nd Amendment to justify their "right" to high powered weaponry. Yet they overlook the stated objective of the 2nd Amendment which is "the security of a free state." Once you realize that the 2nd Amendment has not only failed to fulfill it's purpose, and actually served to make us less secure, then the whole constitutional argument for unfettered gun ownership blows up in their faces.

One of the hardest things to do is to let go of something and allow the cards to fall where they may. Realizing you have little to no control over your desired outcome is humbling. Releasing your grip and allowing fate to take over takes courage. I wonder if I'll ever truly master those particular skills. They seem to come so easily to everyone else!

@georgetakei The Democrats have been given an opportunity to pick the next Republican Speaker of the House. All they have to do is nominate a moderate Republican and stand solidly behind him or her. Then only a handful of Republican votes would be needed to get him or her elected as Speaker. Then we all would enjoy the spectacle of watching the extremist Republican's heads explode. 💥
