MenschlicherFehler,

I finished the second half of Hrot, a boomer shooter. It plays like a mix of Dusk and Quake 1, set in Czechoslovakia in the 80s.

Really good atmosphere, nice enemy variety, good level design with lots of secrets, great music, average gunplay.

I had a lot of fun and reading up about all the references to real life Czechoslovakia and Chech culture was quite interesting and educational.

I started playing Dave the Diver. It has a lot of charm, but it feels like two mobile games stiched together. I kinda like it, but I wish there was more to it.

MenschlicherFehler,

A pretty famous song from the 80s. I only remember the intro, which sounds similar to the intro of “Take my breath away” by “Berlin”. Just a bass, going Dum Dum - Dum Dum. I know nothing else, not even if the singer is male or female. Tried to find it a few times, no luck.

MenschlicherFehler,

Nope. But thanks for trying! :D

MenschlicherFehler,

Sadly not. But thanks for trying!

MenschlicherFehler,

Sounds exhausting. How about the menu? Study it like there will be a test on it tomorrow.

MenschlicherFehler, (edited )

Finde das Rügenwalder Zwiebelmett echt gut. Hatte aber das Original auch sehr lange nicht mehr, vielleicht fehlt mir da der direkte Vergleich.

MenschlicherFehler,

I am still riding the MP3 train. Music from indies and smaller bands I buy on Bandcamp or directly from the artist. Bigger bands from larger labels and really obscure stuff I get from Soulseek.

Discovering music got more difficult after leaving Reddit, I lurked on a lot of genre subs. Now I mostly find new stuff through friends or Youtube recommendations.

What celebrity has actually been a positive influence in your life?

Mine right now off the top of my head is Adam Savage, former co-host of Mythbusters years ago. I sometimes watch his Tested videos whenever he answers questions and he answers them very thoughtfully. A lot of his thoughts, takes and answers based on his experiences and point of view on life and career has helped me be more...

MenschlicherFehler,

TotalBiscuit taught me a lot about having standards and standing by them. Also about consumer rights and voting with your wallet.

MenschlicherFehler,

Ein paar Brotaufstriche und das Wonder-Zeug sind ganz okay. Aber ja, viel Auswahl an Ersatzprodukten hat man nicht.

MenschlicherFehler,

No Vengeance Trilogy? No I Saw The Devil?

MenschlicherFehler,

That is part two of the Vengeance Trilogy. But I agree, they could have at least mentioned the most famous one.

MenschlicherFehler,

I started with X-Com: Terror from the Deep on the PS1. Loved it, sucked at it. I can still remember the fantastic atmosphere though, fueled mostly by my men horribly dying every few turns and the great music of the PS1 version. An example.

I put some time into the reboot, but never made it far, as I insisted on playing on ironman. Tried XCOM2 when it was in a humble bundle, but the timed missions made me quit.

Gave XCOM2 another try a few days ago and timed missions made me quit again. I know I could mod them out but I am not really a fan of changing gameplay elements on the first playthrough. Any tips on how to handle them?

MenschlicherFehler,

Some Singleplayer Escape from Tarkov. It’s a mod for Tarkov that you can play offline, which replaces real players with bots. My god, finally I can enjoy the game without the damn hackers and the shitty netcode. Sure, it is not the same, but it’s fun enough to entertain me for a few hours in the evening.

I also played Ultima Online for about an hour. Never played it before and was curious. It certainly has charm but it didn’t age well, even in the enhanced version. The graphics are tolerable, but the controls are… difficult. I kind of want to play it some more though.

Lastly, I fooled around in the current “skate.” beta for an hour or two. In the last few playtests little had changed, but this time they added a whole new area, which was nice to explore. I am really excited for the full version, but I fear EA will go overboard with the microtransactions.

MenschlicherFehler,

Simon Viklund made fantastic stuff for Payday 1 and 2.

Also Mick Gordon’s work for Doom and Killer Instinct.
