But in the last 6 weeks I’ve listened to podcasts, read content and scrolled through some Reddit posts about the draft and prospects. I still know nothing, but now I think I know things. I’ll use my new found knowledge to articulate overconfident and loud opinions about how teams did in the draft. I will be who Dunning-Kruger were talking about.

Total Wins Defeated: I combined strength of victory with number of wins to get an aggregate of total number of wins each team defeated in 2023.

Example-The Ravens won 13 gms this yr. The win totals of the teams the Ravens beat: 12, 12, 11, 11, 10, 10, 9, 9, 9, 9, 6, 4, 5. They beat 6 teams with double-digit wins. Their average opponent they beat had 9.0 wins. When you combine their “Strength of Victory” (Quality) with their total wins (quantity) you get 117 Total Wins Defeated. #nfl #dataviz

Giants QBs are getting sacked on 15.6% of drop-backs (DeVito 17.9, Jones 15.8, Taylor 9.9). This is the 3rd highest sack rate since the merger behind only the 1986 Eagles and the 1976 Lions. The Giants rate is 2.2X the NFL average of 7.2%.

I also added the 1988 Dolphins to the chart with their 1.1% rate--the best since the merger. Marino was sacked only 6 times in 16 starts. #NYGiants #Dataviz #NFL

But the quality of the 7 opponents the Dolphins have defeated have been less than stellar, while the Jets notched wins against the Eagles and Bills among their 4 wins. In total the Jets have defeated more wins (23) than the Dolphins (22) this year. The 6-3 drop to 0-3 against teams with a winning record after their 21-14 loss to the (6-0 vs losing teams). Silver lining, the Dolphins defense held KC to two offensive touchdowns. They really need to start beating some good teams.

By week two, #Rams rookie wide receiver Puka Nacua had 25 receptions through his first two #nfl career games, jumping past #49ers FB Earl Cooper in 1980, who had 19 through two games and held the record for a player's first two games of their career. Nacua expanded his lead on the record through three games, by besting A.Boldin's 3-game record by 7. Nacua now sits 9 catches above the 4-week record (Also Boldin). @Jonathanglick oh man, what a turnaround! Huge concerns about the season remain, but I’m celebrating this one. I don’t know what we are at this point, but the Giants have grit….that’s something. That’s game was fun!

@Jonathanglick it all depends on if Saquan Barkley is able to play. If he doesn’t play, it will be horrible. If he does play...it will also be horrible. I’m a pessimist, it helps me cope.

The 49ers are on a different level (players and coaching), they should beat us comfortably. But then again, the Giants are coming off of a miraculous win. Can they carry that over this Thursday? Maybe!

How’s that for a non-answer?

@Jonathanglick I can help you get out of your sadness. I’ve done the research...teams who have lost by 40+ in week one have gone on to the playoffs 29% of the time. That’s not that much lower than the standard playoff rate of 38%. This is just a “bury the ball” game.
