I'm up early. Woke up and wasn't able to drift back to sleep quickly and it got to the point where if I fell back asleep, it'd be a hard wakeup when the alarm would go off. Not ideal for me to get less than 8 hours of sleep, but that's what I will work with today. I'll be in bed early this evening.

I've had breakfast, Will soon feed Ginza hers.

Legs feel slightly stiff and faintly sore. I will need to do easy bicycle rides today and tomorrow.

But in spite of the physical fatigue, it looks like my resting heart rate is now staying under 70 bpm. The body's cardiovascular system has seen great improvement in the past 8 weeks, most likely due to me being able to exercise again and that in conjunction with magnesium being replenished in my body.

I biked over 40 miles this past weekend. Wild.

Late yesterday afternoon Ginza and I had a good snuggle session. I love hearing her purr and feeling her vibrate because it makes her so happy.

@IzabelaKaramia@writing.exchange avatar

But yeah, today and tomorrow are full 8 hour workdays, so it makes sense to do shorter distances at easy pace on the bicycle and get the legs rested up for Wednesday when I'll have the whole afternoon off. I can do a harder ride then with rested legs and one that puts more stress on the cardiovascular system.

One thing I've realized recently is that often I don't feel hungry when I first wake up. But after I eat my first breakfast, I can feel that deep hunger that I have, which is a deep hunger

IzabelaKaramia,
@IzabelaKaramia@writing.exchange avatar

stemming from the years of unknown decline in my pancreas making digestive enzymes and that depriving me of calories and other micronutrients.

Which is why on weekdays I almost always eat a second breakfast and often results in 4 meal days. Though I suspect my meal sizes tend to be smaller than most people's. But I seem to be getting plenty of calories and I've gained a few pounds the past 2 months.

IzabelaKaramia,
@IzabelaKaramia@writing.exchange avatar

One thing I need to do is get a small pump that I can carry on the bicycle and have that in case I get a puncture and a flat tire when out distance from home.

I have a kit of patches and glue already.

I'm awake. Slept pretty well. I've had breakfast and have fed Ginza hers.

I was looking at the log the morning and realized that my bike rides after work this week totaled up to 76 miles of riding. Yesterday's bike ride was stressful though, for unknown reasons there was an unusual amount of traffic on the small roads where I do my loops. I still did a reasonable job of keeping my pace on the easier and slower side though, but I would have liked to feel more mentally relaxed.

IzabelaKaramia,

One thing I discovered this week is that there is a county park about 14 miles away which has mountain biking trails. So perhaps some point I'll have enough experience and endurance that I could ride my bike to there, try out some of the easier trails and what that's like, along with how that'll provide me hill training to help strengthen the legs. Of course then I'll have to ride back too. That would be a big day for sure.

@ninetiger

No, definitely not that, though I understand there is a festival near here on Labor Day Weekend.

IzabelaKaramia,

Took a shower and that felt good. Showers feel better now than a few months ago. I was so exhausted at times in the past it felt like great effort and a loss of spoons to take a shower.

It still takes effort now, but that effort is pulling spoons out of a larger inventory.

Going to be nice weather today and temps will climb into the mid 70s though clouds are supposed to roll in this afternoon.

I'm trying to decide if I should change the bicycle tires before or after I ride today.

IzabelaKaramia,
@IzabelaKaramia@writing.exchange avatar

It's been a busy day.

After running errands and getting groceries, I took a 10.75 mile bicycle ride. I then decided to immediately take on the task of putting the new tires on the bicycle. Of course when that was accomplished, it only made sense to try them out and that resulted in me going 10.5 miles on the bike.

So after that ride, I ate a late lunch and then went for a 1.6 mile walk. Which brings us to where I am now, about ready to cook bratwursts for dinner and future meals.

Slept in til 6 this morning. I needed extra sleep after yesterday. I've eaten breakfast and have fed Ginza hers.

Not sure what I'll get done today. I'm taking it slow right now, drinking tea and studying Norwegian on Duolingo.

I plan to walk and ride the bicycle. If I do my base ride of 10 miles it'll give me 106 miles of riding in the past 7 days. Today's a day that I plan to walk before cycling, I want my walking legs to feel fresh instead of worn out some by the bicycle.

Being able to exercise again and seeing beneficial effect from it has been very helpful in improving my resting heart rate and blood pressure the past 2 months. More doctors need to realize that there are patients who unfortunately can see no improvement from exercise or have exercise cause deterioration in the patient. Which signals there is something that needs to be addressed before the doctor insists on continuing to say, "You need to exercise."

I'm awake early because I had to pee and it was a time that if I tried to go back to sleep I might not do so, but if I did so, it'd be a hard wake up in a couple of hours because I know how it feels when I go back to sleep like that.

Body feels pretty good although I can also tell that I need to go easy today and that later on the bike ride and walk both need to be easy. Today is all about recovery after yesterday's bike ride.

And eat plenty of food.

IzabelaKaramia,
@IzabelaKaramia@writing.exchange avatar

1.9 mile walk followed by 11.3 mile bike ride. Both were done very easy paced, I needed active style recovery after yesterday's ride that went fast and hard for parts of it.

Heated up the gluten free frozen pizza and ate half of it for dinner. 2 ice cream bars for dessert. It's been a good day and the weather has been lovely.

IzabelaKaramia,
@IzabelaKaramia@writing.exchange avatar

A ten mile bicycle ride has become my base goal every time I go out on the bike now. My last 9 rides have all been more than 10 miles long and they've covered 138.7 miles total.

Awake. Reluctantly.

I've eaten breakfast and will soon feed Ginza hers.

I would have liked to keep on sleeping. Body seems okay but head is foggy. When I cycle and walk after work, it'll be easy paced.

Had a really bad politically oriented nightmare.

IzabelaKaramia,
@IzabelaKaramia@writing.exchange avatar

In good new, I'm quite sure now my thighs are getting thicker, I think in combination of the cycling and finally having all the nutritional ingredients needed getting into my body.

I'm somewhat bowlegged and I've never had thighs that would touch against each other if I put my feet together on the ground. But that gap is closing now.

IzabelaKaramia,
@IzabelaKaramia@writing.exchange avatar

Physically I feel pretty good today it's just my head that's super foggy. But not slow really, just kinda spacey I guess you could say. It feels like a leisurely ride on the bicycle would do me a lot of good.

A couple of months ago I noted down and tooted about how vertical ridging on fingernails could be indicative of magnesium deficiency and that my own fingernails had prominent ridging.

Today looking my fingernails I see that the ridging appears to be decreasing, being less prominent towards the bases of my fingernails and I hope that's a good sign in two ways -- it helps to confirm that magnesium deficiency is a correct hypothesis and that magnesium supplementation is having effect there

IzabelaKaramia,
@IzabelaKaramia@writing.exchange avatar

and also very importantly having very good effect in improving my energy levels.

Anyhow, the best references I have concerning recovery from the magnesium deficiency I suffered from is that it takes 10 months to full recover with use of supplementation.

I'm 2 months in on that now. I hope this means I will continue to see slow steady improvement.

IzabelaKaramia,

15.3 mile bicycle ride followed by a 2.2 mile walk then followed by dinner.

I'm awake, have had breakfast and have fed Ginza hers. I now have only 10 more sections to complete in Unit 3 of the Duolingo course for Norwegian.

Slept okay, slept pretty solid until the alarm went off this morning. Still cloudy right now but it's suppose to clear up and the forecast says we're beginning a stretch of 10 days that are all predicted to have sunshine.

Right now I expect to do that 25 mile bicycle ride after I log out of work at noon like I do on Wednesdays.

I'm awake and going slowly about putting myself together. I don't think I'll be awake and lively enough to walk or cycle before the rain arrives today. That's fine, I'm okay with taking a zero day.

After eating my first breakfast, that's when I finally felt hungry. I had to force myself to go through the routine of heating up breakfast because I was disconnected from my sense of hunger.

Ginza has been having fun chasing a small ball around.

Reluctantly awake. Lots of rain overnight, I was awake for some time and heard it drumming against the window. I finally fell back asleep, my right hand was on top of Ginza and the left was under the blankets underneath her. I could feel her softly purring.

But somehow I got up when the alarm woke me. I've eaten breakfast and fed Ginza hers. She's now snoozing on the upper perch in her cat tree and looks adorable as always.

Me? I'm far from looking adorable.
