Today, I learned that the binary number system was partially inspired by the I Ching. It's based on the Taoistic concept of the Yin and Yang. The I Ching itself has a set of 64 hexagrams (or "sixty-four" gua).

Shao Yong, a Song dynasty scholar, re-arranged the hexagrams into something that resembles modern binary. He represented solid lines as 0s and broken lines as 1s.

Our current Westernized notion of binary numbers evolved from Gottfried Leibniz reading, and being inspired by, the I Ching.

Under the traumatic rule of capitalism, workers are killing themselves to stay housed, fed, & safe. Workers see how the unhoused are criminalized.They see the sheer lack of empathy by those who have enough money for more than one house. They know they themselves are hanging by a thread living paycheck to paycheck & that they are one crisis away from catastrophe. Workers know they work harder than they’re compensated but have no energy or desire to fight because they permanently live in trauma.

A Penn donor talked about rescinding a $100 million donation, because Penn is improving its DEI and he didn't like that.

After Magill fell into the GOP trap by flubbing that answer, the donor rescinded the donation pending a new president.

Right-wing framing is that the new president will be someone that is "Not anti-semitic." Left framing is that the new president will be "Someone that speaks with clarity on protecting Jewish students." Both slightly off.

The new prez will likely be anti-DEI

Where a government continually treats a certain group/groups as less worthy as humans, they should not control the food of that group, the houses available for that group, the security of that group. The US government and state/local governments within the country treat Black people and Indigenous people as not worthy of humane treatment; how can we trust them to respect our right to vote or even our right to life?
