Today I celebrate the life of Oreo! An iconic Onaqui stallion lost last week due to injuries. It's part of life in the wild, the cost of freedom some say.
A fixture of the north herd for many years, he was a band stallion and had run with the bachelors. He was a benevolent teacher of the young.

A season without much rain brought a dry dusty desert last fall in Utah's Onaqui Mountain range. These wild ones lines up perfectly for me on the hillside as the dust from their movement floats by.

Dawn at the Jetty. The jetty was built to protect the Hatteras Lighthouse in it's original location. The Lighthouse has since been moved further inland, however the jetty still reaches out into the Atlantic. Dawn lights up the sky with orange.
