FolksVelo

@FolksVelo@mas.to

We see velomobiles as being a key way to address the #ClimateCrisis but most cost more than a used car. Our goal is to produce enclosed velocars that cost less than a used automobile to make them affordable by all. Think of a FolksVelo as a link to public transport and local errands, a better alternative to cars, like a cargo bike where even the parent gets to stay out of the rain

I'd like to get nostalgic about bikes that changed my life.

So many stories and adventures with each of these

Here are examples of four...what bikes changed your life?

@Wen I've always wanted to try a Windcheetah and a moulton. Have never heard of a Aienimal before, looks very comfortable.

priorities

if only the US didn't spend $825 billion a year on bombs and weapons they too could afford modern rail systems... assuming the lobbyists for big oil and the automotive industry would let them

Blast from the past: here I am with our dream team in 1999. Missing from the photo was Pam, our amazing driver

25 years later I'm still working on green transportation

I went to @spezialradmesse_spezi specifically for the #velomobiles but was beyond impressed with the variety of ingenious bicycle related products. In a wonderful world of Bosch & Bafang I found the @pendix_edrive to be an elegant & super easy to install option for electrifying just about ANY bike or velomobile

exemplifying the amazing variety of things that were at SPEZI2024 was the I Woody bike camper. Elegant, remarkably lightweight , brilliantly designed camper for one (or two people who REALLY like each other). I even saw it being towed by the remarkable Pedilio solar velomobile

While I can appreciate the aerodynamics and the ability to go quickly without e-assist, I found the upper end of the velo-world to be hilariously challenging to get in and out of. Certainly a great option for long distance but maybe less practical for city use and quick trips. (i think of short trips as being 5km or less)

@simon_brooke yes, I've known about the mosquito for some time. leaning velos have a lot of avantages. it really is a wonderful time for velomobiles. so many innovations. tragically many new velo companies did not survive covid

On this day, in 1961, became the first person in space.

His impression is something we all should reflect on, especially in these troubled times when unspeakable atrocities are being committed over borders and land.

"From up here the Earth is beautiful, without borders or boundaries"

On #internationalwomensday let's honor Annie “Londonderry” Kopchovsky who was the first woman to bike around the world. She did so in 1895

In Finland, kids are #bicycling in the snow
meanwhile here in Massachusetts even the prediction of a few flakes of snow drives people to storm the grocery stores (in their SUVs) to buy eggs, bread, toilet paper and milk.

Finland does it better
