Any dyslexics out there willing to share? I am reviewing my font selection process. I understand that studies so far show that fonts specifically for dyslexics work no better than fonts like Arial and Times New Roman. At the same time, I am looking at contemporary webfonts. What fonts work best for you? #Dyslexia #Dyslexic #Accessibility #a11y

DianaThompson,

@Meyerweb Thanks! It's good to know that OpenDyslexic is working for someone as intended.

I'm surely not the 1st to think of this, but I've been practicing a strategy I call "character sheet based development"

1st design the character sheet (don't get fancy)
2nd create / modify rules to support what the sheet shows.

1/?

DianaThompson,

@masukomi yes, and on web pages 16px minimum font size.

DianaThompson,

@masukomi Thank you for taking the time to write back. I appreciate you sharing your knowledge and experience with me. Has me thinking more about optimal type sizing.

"In a statement on X, the platform formerly known as Twitter,"

I love how most media use statements like this. It must annoy Musk to no end that the old name will never go away.

DianaThompson,

@shawnhooper He's going to have to change the domain name for me to consider calling it anything but Twitter.

#WordPress #FullSiteEditing theme folks: Anyone else having trouble getting search results filtered by post type. Testing the 2022 and 2023 themes, I found that the search.html return results from all content types regardless of whether the postType attribute is specified as a post, page, or a custom post type. Am I missing something?

DianaThompson,

@shawnhooper Awesome. Thanks.

Yesterday I asked:

You know how, by default, the <textarea> field stays the same size when people type sentences into the form field? We are creating a new CSS property so you can style a form field (text-area and input) to grow fit its content —so you don’t have to use JavaScript to do this!

field-sizing was greatly preferred over form-sizing, but a lot of you suggested input-sizing... so let me put those head to head:

What should this property be called?

DianaThompson,

@jensimmons Firstly, I love that you're working on this. To you poll question, I favor field-sizing. Input, to my mind at least, is a broader term, including radio buttons, checkboxes, dropdowns, etc. A field is specifically text or text area only. So, focusing specifically on resizing textarea inputs, it might be worth considering "textarea-resizing."

Lesley recently shared a really fun anecdote about how she became weirdly synonymous with pizza. I love these stories, and it's a pretty interesting case study for the "wacky" TLDs. I didn't remember her plugin's name, but I did remember that she was somehow associated with Pizza.

DianaThompson,

@alexstandiford Love this story. Since DianaThompson.com was taken, I started out with LikeTheGoddess.com. Still have the domain and use the name on some social platforms. There's something to be said for something that uniquely represents you. People will remember.

Finally disabled the YouTube app on my S21 and replaced it with a Firefox shortcut to YouTube. Added some add-ons to Firefox. No ads on YouTube, which is great. De-Chroming my life one piece at a time. Firefox has a Bitwarden add-on, too, which is cool and should help with passwords.
