“There may be many reasons to censure the conduct of Judge Amber Givens, but as a prosecutor, I find there are no criminal reasons. No judge is above the law, but turning bad conduct into a criminal matter is not the solution.”
I tried the new Zoom on Apple TV over the weekend and it was awesome! The continuity camera on your iPhone works great and just being able to relax on your couch or lazy boy, makes zooming with family/friends so enjoyable.
#Zoom appears to have really entered the #Enshittification stage of their existance, with pop-ups trying to sell new features after you leave a meeting.
It seems like it's not the UI or the usability, that get's people to leave #Mastodon nowadays but - small, yet vocal and totally not self-critical - parts of the community, that can't stop lecturing others about the #Fediverse and how to act/post/comment here or about what.
German Mastodon had the ridiculous debate about #Zoom, other parts similar stuff (scolding someone for #bw-photos... really?).
Maybe the recent update helps people get it together, otherwise it will get even quieter here.
waiting to be let in a #zoom meeting again. "Host is aware..."I wonder if this is an open source desktop fault. I'm clearly not being seen by the host. I don't exist again
Tonight a dear friend sent me this photo of my lab circa 2007. A coffee bar, shelves of books, and off-camera a 12' long table in a massive room surrounded by whiteboards.
Now? My department has moved to a sleek new building. I don't have a lab, just a 120 square foot office. Theorists don't need space; all they do is think. If they need to talk to one another, they can reserve departmental conference rooms so long as they remember to do so six weeks in advance.
#BadUI time! I was doing some tech support, showing my father how to manage the audio for a #zoom call.
Aside from more advanced settings and audio tests, in the pop-up menu you can select two things–the mic and the speaker. But the menu disappears after you click one thing. If you want to select both, you have to open the menu again to click on the second item.
Bad pop-up! You aren't dismissed until I tell you you are dismissed!
As usual, correspondents who want to tell me it's not that hard, they're used to it, etc. can mute themselves. Demand better.
(I should probably mention this is in the zoom app, on #macOS, if it isn't obvious from the pic…)
For video meetings, could the software edit my eyes so other attendees see me looking at them (directly at my laptop's camera instead of slightly lower at my laptop's screen), in the interest of better #interpersonal communication through eye contact?
