The only time I consider the length of my books is after they're written. Then, I check to see what qualifies as a #novel or #novella.
Since jumping into the #webnovel arena, one platform has demanded chapters be no greater than 15k characters—this is because of the fiction-on-phone readership's alleged 'short attention span'. rolls eyes
Dropped a new excerpt from my free webnovel, Below the Heavens - JiangXi!
I decided to do a mood board just for fun!
Below the Heavens is a high fantasy web novel series featuring a quick witted protagonist and a world and magic system crafted from scratch, incorporating east Asian culture and influences.
This indie novel is available for free on Royal Road via the web browser (link in my bio) or their app! Also available on Scribblehub, and I have a Patreon as well where you can read ahead on a sizeable portion of content!
Below the Heavens is a high fantasy web novel featuring a quick witted protagonist and a world and magic system crafted from scratch, incorporating east Asian culture and influences.
This is the first chapter of a web novel that I’m working on! I aim to have one chapter a week out on Tuesdays (hopefully).
Here’s the synopsis:
A young woman by the name of Iyla happens upon a magical codex that accidentally becomes registered to her, marking her as a new magus, and giving her the Sight, an ability to see the unseen and hidden parts of her world that is normally undisclosed to outsiders without a need to know. Bewildered by her new powers, she learns to use them and interacts with creatures and peoples straight out of her favorite stories!
