Howdy! I’m Flint and I was known as the annoying kid who wouldn’t stop talking about #transformers in school. I jokingly refer to myself as a Freelance “Whatever You’ll Pay Me To Do” but I mainly write social media posts for events and create table albums for sculpture artists chronicling their process.
I’m a #trans man from West Virginia and in my free time, when I’m not taking my Transformers figures hiking, I’m usually annotating and writing my thoughts about sci-fi books.
Howdy all! In this weeks video we take a look at a classic, it’s a vintage 1985 Slug! The question is: where does G1 fit in a modern collection? Check out my video linked below to find out! #transformers#dinobots#80s https://youtu.be/d_8aDzVEKPI
@nectarmechanics Slug was my favorite as a kid. I still have him! A bit dusty, but still in great condition. Hearing it came out “almost 40 years ago”…ouch. 👴🏼 #GenX#Transformers#RetroToys
@box464 Ayy! Awesome to see you’ve still got yours!
Yeah I’m already having similar, my intro to transformers was Prime… Which is ten years old already 😬
How dare time pass! #transformers#dinobots#retrotoys
"White Line Nightmare" apparently originates from dialogue/narration in Mad Max 2, an apt homage for this issues' rolling vehicular combat. Artist Andrew Wildman has made this more explicit by using thick white speed lines on his two subjects, Autobot Fizzle and Not-Dreadnok.
I forgot the Firecons were in this as well; I love those dorky little monsters! Future Deskbots? YOU BETCHA.
Moving swiftly on from a Pretender Pretending Professionally we reach The Transformers (and Action Force) #192, staying with "Uncle" Bob Budiansky as he reheats earlier story beats about Humans VS Transformers to bring us pound-shop bootlegs of G.I. Joe's Dreadnoks as they pit their mettle against the Sparkler-Minibots (US: "Sparkabots") and TriggerBots. While lurking in the ludicrously disguised wings are Scorponok and the Decepticon Junior Headmasters...
This account is at issue #191 right now, hip deep in a Budiansky penned SkullGrin Becomes An Actor story. Can't help but noticing we're not far away from Time Wars....
Yes, dear reader, I'm going to track that number with comic issues from now on.
Hmm...maybe I should upset some people so we can go back and revisit some classics? :blobcat_beret_coffee:
Seeing the decline of IDW makes me sad. I pine for the return of the MTMTE days. All transformers fiction now is various shades of mid. #idw#transformers#toys#comica
Well played, #RiseOfTheBeasts! Based on your first trailer I was not going to bother seeing you in the cinema, like all but two of your predecessors...but after this second trailer I am very much going to be there! 😍
"Guys, we're not collector's items; we're a child's playthings. We. Are. TOYS!"
From IDW's celebrated award-winning comic series, More Than Meets The Eye, written by James Roberts, came this wonderful collection of vaguely hostile shapes. Abandoned after the war they had to figure out what killing machines were supposed to do when War stopped.
Flywheels, Misfire, Krok, Spinister and Crankcase: "The Scavengers".
Today's #Deskbot is a little bit special being unique in my collection, currently.
TANATOS! [pron: Ta-NAH-tos]
This fabulous toy hails from South Korean toyline, Turning Mecard, and has a cartoon series that is exactly #pokemon meets #transformers in both concept and execution.
His wiki entry (in its entirety):
Tanatos Is the skeletal robot Mecardimal. He is the younger brother of Evan
Bah weep granah all!
In this weeks video, I used #Blender to recreate the #80s#transformers cartoon’s style using grease pencil and material nodes!
Watch the video linked below to see just how exactly I did it!
In honour of @trixter 's very hard work here's a special #Deskbots post celebrating the very lovely Transformers Legends anthology paperback! The book has been out of print for some time but Trixter, uber-Fan, has painstakingly created a digital edition to ensure this minor classic is not lost to time! And now its ready! Aaaahhh!
Please grab yourself a copy here and be sure to say nice things to Trixter on your way past. ☺️
Anybody got anything neat or fun to share? I'm trying to find more people #onhere to follow. Trying to avoid the toots about the doom and gloom of the world.
I guess i'm just scrolling again, trying to avoid working on a Monday. If you like any of the stuff below, holler at me!
Repost of my uberlong #Transformers G1 reaction thread from December 2021 when
I got tired of secondhand viewing @dr_xadium's G1 marathon and decided to get stuck in for myself.
