I’m not really sure where this is headed. But I guess it’s ok so far. I recall feeling iffy about The Mandalotian at first too, but it eventually won me over.
Also.... I made the mistake of reading comments on various posts made by Disney/Star Wars for #TheAcolyte and holy shit, some people are the actual WORST. Some people must live just for shitting on things or other people.
Look at the Rotten Tomatoes score, critics are very high, audience is very low. Like damn, nobody likes to hate on things they love more than some #StarWars fans it would seem...
Und wer von euch hat schon #theacolyte auf Disney+ angeschaut?
Wir (Sohn2 und ich) haben uns heute die ersten beiden Episoden gegeben und finden es interessant.
Was denkt ihr? #starwars
Lee Jung-jae as Master Sol is great. I think this will be the most memorable character from #TheAcolyte which #StarWars fans will love for years to come.
Watched the second episode of #TheAcolyte and it is still ok. The second episode was a bit better than the first, enjoyed the alien designs and the city and all that. The story moves forward with every episode so far, compared to #Ahsoka this is lightning fast. And I prefer that much more, the show doesn’t keep you hanging, it always solves some plot points and sets up new. I‘d still prefer this whole thing to be a movie, a proper #StarWars movie, remember those?
The Spectacular Failure of the Star Wars Hotel, trash can edition. Don't have 4 hours to watch YouTuber Jenny Nicholson's video essay on "the Star Wars hotel"? (https://buff.ly/3x7aqaQ) These lame attempts at trash cans summarize the story quite well.
I watched The Acolyte last night, and forgot to share about it here!
Spoiler-free first impressions thread:
• I really like this era. 100 years before Episode III is close enough to the prequels to feel much more like them than anything else, but also, the Jedi are more at their peak than even then.
• So far there have been no references to or appearances of characters or planets that we know besides Coruscant. And I’m okay with this.
Spoiler-free impressions of The Acolyte, continued:
• I like the vibe of the show. It feels different. It should: it is in a period we have never seen before with characters we have never met, facing a galaxy in a state we’ve never known.
• There were moments that reminded me of The Expanse, of a martial arts film, of a mystery/thriller flick. I like this combination. I want more!
• I love the cast of characters. Not too trope-y but… a little.
Spoiler-free impressions of The Acolyte, continued:
• I don’t think I felt the need/want to explain context or lore to others watching—refreshing after Ahsoka (which I also really enjoyed, to be fair, but for different reasons!)
• Okay yeah we have Nemoidians and Coruscant and Jedi with the Force and lightsabers and hyperspace… it is still 100% Star Wars
• I appreciate that it jives with The High Republic era aesthetically but that’s about it
Spoiler-free impressions of The Acolyte, continued:
• I want more! That’s a good thing. I remember so many people dogged on Andor for starting out slow, but it had to take its time to introduce you to the state of the galaxy, the characters, the motivations. This doesn’t feel as slow-burn (or as deep) as Andor, but just remember the first impressions of that show before you judge this one too hard from its premier. 😉
Watched the first episode of #TheAcolyte and it was ok. It's ok #StarWars, better than #Ahsoka or #ObiWan or #TBOBF. But just ok. It's no #Andor and it has stupid dialogue and it looks odd. But I'm a sucker for Jedi and #SWTOR like settings, so this is intriguing. But man how I wish we would get a proper movie with proper budget and vision and not just TV scraps from the Volume.
