Homeworld 2 was released 20 years ago today.
A magnificent real-time strategy game, remastered in 2015.
Suffice to say, I'm looking forward to the sequel, which Blackbird Interactive (Hardspace: Shipbreaker) is due to release next February, with enormous impatience. #homeworld2#scifi#games#rts#homeworld#spaceships#2003
Homeworld: Cataclysm (2000) was released circa 23 years ago.
This stand-alone expansion of the 1999 game wasn't developed by Relic Entertainment, but Barking Dog Studios (Treasure Planet: Battle at Procyon, 2002). Which later became Rockstar Vancouver (Bully, Max Payne 3), before being merged with Rockstar Toronto in 2012.
The Creator (September 29, in theaters)
The next film from Gareth Edwards (Rogue One, Godzilla 2014, Monsters) promises to be magnificent.
With production design by James Clyne (ILM VFX art director on The Last Jedi), cinematography by Greig Fraser (Rogue One, Dune: Part 1, the Batman), music by Hans Zimmer...
Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets (2017): Alpha
"We had to build the exterior and interior of Alpha for many shots, mixing 3D matte painting and full CG shots" - Olivier Martin (in charge of the art direction / concepts / matte paintings at RodeoFX)
Original pre-production concept of the space station done by Feng Zhu, and some spaceships by Isaac Hannaford. #scifi#valerian#alpha#spaceships
The Last Empress was a phenomenal episode whose theme ironically was imprisonment & executions.
I do like how Hober Mallow came in to save the day (pun not intended) & how the Empire was shown to be weak during a time of crisis.
The backstabbing by one Cleon against another was not surprising, although the look in Demerzel’s eyes reveals a startling truth: she is loyal to the first Cleon—& him alone.
That prison, in the end, brings up more questions, which makes me wonder if it was a prison for Demezel & if she has other minions like her around‽ Yes, she says she is the last machine, but that might not be true.
I was sad to see the monster meet its noble end. I wish the monster killed Day & then we could see the effects of another clone taking his place.
Here's a new video from the Spacedock #Youtube channel about the Orion Drive. I love all the #SpaceShip designs they talk about, and I want to find ways of using them in my #SciFi#writing.
It also has a link to the #ScienceFiction#AudioDrama The Sojourn, which I'll start when I have the time.
