We got a bag from Pemberton for $6:

• $20+ worth of stale bread (sell-by-date of today). In the freezer now, will become a few weekends' worth of french toast.
• Two freshly prepared foods with sell-by-date of today. Will eat tomorrow.
• One packaged food with use-by-date of a few days ago. Probably fine but that will get composted.
• One large pear that had a couple scratches.

I saw a house in St Johnsbury, #Vermont with 4x of these wall mounted rotary clothes airers on their porches and thought they were a great idea, and finally found the right search terms today for a source.

In the parking lot in front of Foss Park in Somerville, Paul Revere rides in on Brown Beauty with a message about some troop movements out of Boston. He si accompanied by the modern-day clad Lancer's rider from the state, in a shockingly red coat which is sort of a mixed message here. He is in colonial costume, and rides up to a greeting throng of Somerville residents, some also in costume. A fife and drum play a colonial tune in the background.

My union, the Somerville municipal employees association, has been without a contract for 650 days now. And the last time we got a raise was July 2021. We are the people who work at the public libraries, we are the people who clean and maintain the streets, we are the school nurses and the city hall clerks.

If you live in Somerville and have feelings about this, please consider contacting the mayor. The mayor is the one who ultimately decides whether we get a contract or a raise
