Solid-state cells' potential advantages over currently-available batteries, include tripling of charging speeds, getting close to a constant 400 kilowatts no matter the temperature, and doubling the energy density in the same physical space, all at half the cost.
Nissan previously stated that its goal is to achieve a cost of $75 per kWh at the pack level by the fiscal year 2028 and $65 per kWh thereafter.
Nissan isn’t the only company dedicated to bringing solid-state batteries to the mass market: #StoreDot, #SolidPower, #Factorial, #QuantumScape, and others are working on their versions of the technology.

Taiwanese battery maker Prologium said it will invest invest 5.2 billion euros in Dunkirk in northern France by 2030, and produce batteries for hundreds of thousands of cars there once at full capacity.
The group specialises in the development of "solid-state" batteries which are considered more powerful, safer and quicker to charge than the lithium-ion cells often used in electric vehicles.
