One of the weirdest things about not being on Twitter anymore is that I miss important cartoon news, like from SDCC last month (and it especially sucks because I write a cartoon blog). New Simpsons season starts October 1, and the poster for this year's Treehouse of Horror XXXIV (which will air later that month) is rad, as always. 🎃
I did a #ComicCon panel last week on my favorite author #PhilipKDick! This happened on Sunday afternoon, July 23, 2023. Lots of people were taking photos and video. It looked like one mounted camera was recording the whole thing. Does anybody know how I can track down these videos? I'd love to see myself up there.
So let's talk #GIJoeClassified Render Reveals from #SDCC. First up is the VAMP with Grunt.
I was honestly doubtful we'd ever see anything bigger than a motorcycle at regular retail, so a 2 person off road vehicle is a wonderful surprise. Grunt looks great and the Steel Brigade head makes this better for troop building than the RAM was.
I had the OG Purple Techno-Viper. This one is clearly meant to complement the HISS so I may sit this out, since I wasn't in a position to get one. Looks cool, though.
Baroness looks much better than her original release but I don't know if I need alternate twins, so I may wait for this design to get a single release. Hopefully not under Python Patrol.
This was unequivocally the best thing I saw at this year's #SDCC, but I also got some very good news while there, namely, that #EmilFerris's long, long-awaited My Favorite Thing Is Monsters Vol 2 is finally on the schedule from Fantagraphics:
It's coming out in April, which gives you plenty of time to read volume one, which I called, "a haunting diary of a young girl as a dazzling graphic novel":
Hey, it's my birthday! If you're at #SDCC, please come celebrate with me at the Women of Marvel panel at 10:30 in 6A.
And if you wanna give me a present, please tell someone that my miniseries New Mutants: Lethal Legion just released its final issue, and the whole story is out there now!
"I Wish They All Could Be CA MCs" panel with Julia Vee (L), Ken Bebelle, Susan Lee, @pluralistic , Nidhi Chanani, Diane Marie Brown, and moderator Maryelizabeth Yturralde (and featuring End of Line Guy, foreground left). #SDCC
